Machine Heads Video: Discussing Kubota’s SCL1000 Stand-On Compact Loader with Jerry Corder
On this episode of Machine Heads Interviews, we sit down with Jerry Corder of Kubota to discuss the mini skid steer category of machines and Kubota’s popular SCL1000. The mini skid steer machine category (also called compact utility loaders, stand-on loaders and compact tool carriers) was established nearly 30 years ago, but in the last five years there has been a flurry of activity with new brands and new machines entering the market. You could make the argument that this new interest in the category started with the introduction of the Kubota SCL1000. In this video, we talk with Corder to discuss why the SCL1000 has caught on and how it remains a unique machine nearly four years since its introduction.
A Rundown of Kubota’s SCL1000 Tool Carrier
Kubota’s SCL1000 began production in 2020 and was the company’s first foray into the stand-on track loader market. The SCL1000 was designed from the start as a 36-in. wide, stand-on track loader but with wide tracks for outstanding ground pressure. The SCL1000 is well-positioned with wide tracks, a narrow body and a rated operating capacity of 1,000 lbs and meets the demands of contractors and rental yards alike. The SCL1000 features a wide 9.8-in. track that comes standard on the overall narrow 36-in. machine. The integrated track design is engineered for durability with the undercarriage welded to the mainframe of the body.
Kubota’s SCL1000 boasts a powerful 24.8-hp turbocharged Kubota diesel engine with quiet operation, high altitude performance and no diesel particulate filter requirement. The loader arms reach high and far with a hinge pin height of 84.7 in. and a reach of 25.9 in. at a 45-degree dump angle. The SCL1000 has a best-in-class travel speed of 4.9 mph.
Kubota’s SCL1000 is engineered with cushioned loader boom cylinders and an adjustable platform suspension system that increase operator comfort for maximum productivity. The loader comes standard with a keyless start with passcode protection, 12V charging port and a 4.3-in. LCD color dash monitor. To learn more, watch the video above.
