Learn More About FAE’s Remote Control Carriers

There’s no denying that the jobsite is changing. Advances in technology are boosting efficiency, safety and productivity across the board. However, it’s not just performance that’s improving. So too is access.
Remote-controlled carriers allow operators to work in areas where they never could before. On steep slopes, where skid steers or excavators risk tipping or sliding, remote controlled carriers, like those from FAE, can work with ease. Equipped with a hydraulic variable track system, FAE’s RCUs can extend their tracks to improve traction, allowing for work on slopes up to 55 degrees. And, because these machines are remote controlled, operators can remain safely positioned on stable ground above or below the slope, with greater visibility and control compared to traditional carriers.
In addition to maneuverability and safety, these units are versatile, durable machines that make the difference for many applications. Capable of being outfitted with FAE fixed-tooth mulchers, flail mowers and cold planers, they have a wide range of uses within the FAE family. However, with the new SAE attachment plate, FAE RCUs are also compatible with an even greater array of third-party skid steer attachments — from chippers to dozer blades. This capability opens up use to many new tasks.
Ready to Work
One of the most common uses of RCUs is for vegetation clean-up along roads and highways. Landscaping contractors note that work along highways becomes much more efficient and cost effective with remote control units. Jobs on steep, overgrown banks that are inaccessible to skid steers and would require days to manage on foot, can be completed in just hours with remote control units.
Additionally, RCUs are a key tool in the fight against forest fires. For fire departments, RCUs offer an excellent alternative to skid steers for fuel reduction and fire break creation. Whereas skid steers can require extensive training to operate, an operator can pick up a RCU and be running effectively in just minutes. While larger carriers, like skid steers and excavators, require heavy-duty trailers and trucks for transportation to jobsites, the low profile and relatively light weight of RCUs allow them to easily be hauled behind a pickup truck into forested, difficult-to-access areas.
FAE’s RCU Line
FAE’s remote-control range features four models: the compact RCU45, the RCU55, the RCU75 and the powerful RCU120. Offering a range of sizes allows operators to choose the model that best fits their needs, while retaining access to FAE quality and advanced features.
With these exciting options available now, and more on the horizon, we are sure to see productivity, safety and profitability continue to rise in land clearing, vegetation management and road construction. The jobsite of the future is here!
