United Rentals Inc. has received a 2026 Industrial IoT Product of the Year Award from TMC, for its Wedge remote monitoring product, the company announced June 11.

The award recognizes technology and industrial solutions that “deliver measurable value through connected operations and real-time data,” the company says. In the case of United Rentals, the award reflects its commitment to helping customers boost the safety and productivity of their jobsites.

“We’re honored that Wedge has been recognized with this award because it reflects the value connected technology can deliver to our customers every day,” says Kristen Bauer, a member of the advanced solutions team at United Rentals. “Wedge is more than a monitoring solution. It’s part of our broader vision for a connected worksite where real-time data helps customers make faster decisions, reduce risk and keep projects moving forward.”

The Industrial IoT Product of the Year Award “honors the most innovative products and solutions driving digital transformation across industrial markets,” the company says. Wedge fits that bill, officials add, helping connect jobsite operatives with real-time data.

Providing data for people and equipment

As a member of United Rentals’ Worksite Performance Solutions portfolio, Wedge connects data for customers across multiple jobsites, the firm says. The award-winning product connects equipment and operations throughout a company’s suite of project sites, helping them identify potential equipment issues and reduce safety risks through remote monitoring technology.

“The recognition reinforces United Rentals’ continued investment in digital innovation and connected solutions that help customers improve jobsite performance,” United Rentals officials say. “Through Worksite Performance Solutions, the company is bringing together equipment, technology and expertise to help customers work safer, operate more efficiently and maximize uptime.”

The product also promises greater visibility into factors that might impact customer safety and productivity, as well as jobsite uptime. Representatives say Wedge can help customers plan for changing conditions, allowing them to respond proactively before large-scale changes take place, forcing smaller issues into an outsized spotlight.
