ARA Launches New Website, Theft Prevention Tools

ARA CEO Tony Conant Speaks to Crowd at Equipment Theft Awareness Press Conference

The American Rental Association (ARA) has announced new developments to its website and theft prevention tools for rental businesses, the association announced April 14.

Now entering the second year of its Equipment Rental Guard (ERG) program, the ARA has introduced a new website, equipmentrentalguard.org, to help strengthen theft prevention in the rental industry. The association has touted the ERG as “a comprehensive theft-prevention program” by the rental industry, for the rental industry.

“Equipment theft is not just a financial issue — it disrupts operations, delays projects and impacts customers across the industry,” says Ryan White, ARA’s director of theft prevention. “With these new tools, we’re giving members greater visibility into potential risks and strengthening the industry’s ability to work together to prevent loss.”

The new website is designed to offer a user-friendly, “dynamic” experience for the rental industry and its worker base.

Utilizing the new tools

The new website platform features “streamlined navigation,” in addition to its fully revamped user interface and expanded selection of renter resources. The association says all changes were made to make it easier for businesses to access theft prevention tools.

The update also includes a new renter database and dashboard to weed out “problematic” renters throughout the industry. The association’s 15,000-plus members will be able to flag problematic renters for the database.

“This real-time data source compiles ARA member-generated text alerts on flagged renters and stolen equipment into a centralized, searchable system accessible to both ARA members and law enforcement,” the association says.

To teach the new website’s userbase on the updated tools, ARA is also hosting a Lunch & Learn event on April 16 at 1 p.m. Eastern. Registration is open now.
