Video: Yanmar’s C30R-3 and C50R-5 Crawler Dumpers are All About Choice

On this episode of Machine Heads, host Wayne Grayson sits down with Zac Evans of Yanmar to discuss the company’s excellent compact crawler dumper lineup. Yanmar offers two models: the C30R-3 and C50R-5. The two models cater to different needs and the lineup’s flexibility extends even further through its choice of dump bed configurations, reversible operator station, available rotation and more.

Yanmar offers two models in the compact crawler carrier range.

C30R-3

The C30R-3 is the smaller of the two, weighing in at 5,843 lbs with a 46-hp engine. It can carry up to 5,512 lbs of payload. This is truly a compact machine — only about 5 ft wide and just under 11 ft long. It’s designed for applications where you need to get into really tight spaces. The C30R-3 can spin-turn 360 degrees and features a swivel dump bed that rotates 180 degrees with an 85-degree dump angle.

C50R-5

The C50R-5 is Yanmar’s larger offering in this category. It weighs 12,633 lbs and has a 111-hp Yanmar diesel engine. Maximum payload is 8,379 lbs with the box-shaped dump bed, or 7,718 lbs with the V-shaped swivel dump configuration. Like the C30R-3, it features 180-degree bed rotation and a 65-degree dump angle.

Both Yanmar models feature a reversible operator seat and controls: you can face forward or backward depending on your direction of travel, which is a nice safety feature. The C50R-5 is available with either an open ROPS/FOPS canopy or an optional enclosed cab.

One thing that’s worth noting about the Yanmar machines is the dump bed versatility. You can get them with different configurations — a convertible dump box that switches to a flatbed or the V-shaped rotating dumper. This gives you options depending on your specific application.
