Construction technology firm Trimble has announced that its latest piece of software, ProjectSight 360 Capture, is now available across North America, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

Advertised as an “AI-powered reality capture” program, the software aims to bridge the gap between remote 3D project visualization and normal collaborative progress tracking. The Westminster, Colorado-based company says the new software is an add-on to its existing ProjectSight project management program, and can transform site imagery into an “interactive, cloud-based record” of any given project site.

Lawrence Smith, the company’s SVP of construction management solutions, says the program creates a complete view of a site’s wider conditions. He adds that this approach allows for cleaner and quicker decision making by project teams.

“The jobsite rarely matches the design expectation, and manual, disconnected methods to document jobsite progress make it difficult for contractors to maintain real-time visibility and collaborate efficiently between field and office,” he says. “Unlike standalone reality capture tools that require separate integrations and workflows, 360 Capture natively integrates 360-degree image mapping technology within the Trimble ecosystem, connecting imagery directly to project management and collaboration workflows.”

The new program allows for teams walking a jobsite to record full project imagery with any 360-degree camera. From there, the software’s AI-backed technology will automatically document and map images to existing architectural drawings, thus creating what the firm calls a “visual timeline of construction progress” for the project.

Connecting workflows in real time

With the program already embedded into ProjectSight, users will be able to instantly turn any site observations into actionable project data, Trimble says. Existing customers says the program’s reality capture and analysis have shown great value during their current projects.

“We are heavily invested in the Trimble ecosystem, and having 360 Capture within the ecosystem just makes it a huge selling point for us because we can do everything in one place,” says Gabriel Asante-Boado, head of design for English mechanical contractor AV Unibrak.

Additionally, the software’s 360-degree imaging capabilities allow for a “real-time understanding of project status,” Trimble says. Project teams will be able to identify, and therefore resolve, field issues earlier and faster.

“One great thing about this is that it’s all under one roof,” adds Bruno Morais, construction manager at SKYGRiD, a general contractor based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. “The user interface is very familiar to what we already deal with day-to-day, and I think that will make it a lot easier for people to access and review the data.”
