Genie is gearing up for the future. The company just unveiled its Next-Generation scissor lift line which includes six new models designed to improve performance and lower the total cost of ownership. Genie built these new machines with a “future-focused design” and is ready to reach new heights in this machine category in 2025 and beyond.

From the press release:

Genie’s Next-Generation Scissor Lifts are redefining the standard for slab scissor lifts and moving this classic MEWP category into the future,” said Christian Dube, Senior Global Product Manager. “Our priority when redesigning these lifts was to drive lower cost of ownership, improve serviceability and enhance the user experience — all while delivering the quality that our customers and the industry expect from Genie.

The new line includes the GS-1932, GS-2632, GS-3232, GS-2646, GS-3246 and GS-4046. According to Genie, the most noticeable change with the next-generation slab scissor lifts is its curved linkage design. This new design enables the company to stock the machines with right-sized components, like batteries and drive motors. This also offers a lower replacement part cost.

Some of the new models will be on display at The ARA Show in Vegas.

Other design changes were made to eliminate rust, limit the opportunity for damage and reduce wear and tear. These changes add to the overall improved quality and cost savings of the new line. Here are some examples of these changes:

  • A new machine chassis so water wouldn’t pool on top and cause rust.
  • Reinforcement steel in targeted locations like extension decks to reduce damage.
  • Added steel around the machine’s side pockets to reduce the chance for damage to the chassis.

“On their own, each individual update is an incremental improvement. But, when considered together as a system, and across the product line, the result is a family of machines that add value by reducing costs while improving performance and serviceability,” Dube said.

Maintenance Made Easier

Genie also designed these new machines for easier upkeep. For example, there are fewer serviceable components than with previous generations. The company says that of the components that remain, at least 70 percent have commonality across the product line. This should simplify machine fleet management and increase uptime. A consistent parts layout in easy-to-access locations was a priority and is a win for service technicians who work on multiple models.

Batteries were another focus for Genie when designing these new machines. Commonality among service parts was considered with just two battery part numbers being used across the entire slab scissor lift product line. Thanks to customer feedback and regional preferences, commonly used high-quality FLA batteries come standard for these models in North America. Other regions around the world can expect standard maintenance-free AGM batteries in their machines. Genie says that a lithium-ion option will be available globally. Capping off the battery news, the company also developed Battery Guard. This option was created to help combat battery theft and protect an owners’ investment.

Enhanced User Experience

The GS-1932 boasts standard fixed guard rails that allow users to drive through most common doors without the need to pause and fold guardrails down.

Genie also looked at the user experience when designing the Next-Generation line. One highlight includes a completely re-designed platform that’s 20 percent larger and offers room for two people to work comfortably indoors.

The company says operators will notice other subtle details that enhance comfort at height.

From the press release:

When talking with customers, one of the common critiques of products available in the market today is the “flex” that occurs when standing on an extension deck. Genie solved this problem by reinforcing the extension deck across the range, giving the extension deck more structure.

The company’s new Smart Link platform controller has also been completely redesigned to be 30 percent lighter than the previous version and incorporates a more ergonomic design. Genie says the control system also has been updated to align to a new ISO standard (ISO 21455:2020).

Heading to The ARA Show Jan. 29-Feb. 1 in Las Vegas? Be sure to keep an eye out for some these new machines at the Genie booth #2045.
