JLG Announces 519 Telehandler, a Revamp of the G5-18A, Another Cool New Compact Model
It was December 2007 when JLG Industries announced the introduction of the JLG G5-18A super compact telehandler, aimed at nimbly navigating apps in the construction, landscape and agricultural markets. This week, JLG teased a revamp of this classic compact model. Enter the JLG 519 telehandler — the second big JLG compact telehandler announcement this fall. It’s a redesign of the G5-18A model, boasting a wide range of improvements. JLG is marketing more advanced features, increased productivity, enhanced efficiency, easy serviceability and solid TOC.
First question: Where will the JLG 519 telehandler find work? From the press release:
“The 519 will be a valuable asset for rental companies, commercial and residential construction firms and independent contractors, like masons and homebuilders, working in pick-and-place applications that require precision handling of job site materials,” says John Boehme, senior product manager, JLG. “With its enhanced capabilities and technology, this new model is positioned to compete effectively in the 5,500-lb telehandler market.”
The JLG 519 Telehandler Will Be an Important Part of the Compact Category
Honestly, there are not that many compact telehandlers out there today in the North American market. Sure, Skyjack, Manitou, JCB, Kramer, Genie and Bobcat all make small, tool-carrying telehandlers, but those brands don’t carry very many models. Here are some compact telehandler stories from the archives. JLG will now carry three models. It has its new compact JLG 519 telehandler, super compact 313 telehandler (13-ft, 1-in. reach) and it’s awesome new electric variant — the 313E (more info below). So the CE crew is seeing this revamp as an important announcement to the market. This unit will be offering a 5,500-lb lift capacity, 18-ft, 7-in. maximum lift height and a 10-ft, 10-in. maximum forward reach. There will be lots of new features. From the press release:
“The new JLG 519 telehandler exemplifies our commitment to customer-inspired innovation and productivity-enhancing features,” said Boehme. “These updates give our customers the versatility, performance and technology they need to excel on today’s job sites.”
JLG 519 Telehandler Updates, Specs and Features
- Improved Load Chart: The 519’s load chart has been optimized. That will expand its working zone at maximum lift capacity and forward reach.
- Advanced Control System: The new control system enables additional productivity-boosting features. These include Load Stability Indication (LSI), Seatbelt Engagement and Operator Presence (SEAOP) and enhanced diagnostics through ClearSky Smart Fleet.
- Powerful Yet Efficient Engine: The 519 is powered by a Deutz 2.2L 60-hp diesel engine. It provides optimized performance while improving fuel efficiency by 10 to 20 percent.
- Multifunction Joystick: The electric-over-hydraulic joystick offers greater versatility, with auxiliary hydraulic function and attachment tilt capabilities.
- Redesigned Cab: The completely redesigned cab provides operators with a more spacious and comfortable work environment. This includes options like air conditioning and a multifunction display with a backup camera.
- Increased Serviceability: Significant reductions in hydraulic hoses and fittings (44 percent) enhance serviceability by minimizing potential leak points.
Important features that JLG carried over into the design of the new 519 include:
- Excellent maneuverability: Tight-turning radius, narrow width and low machine height allow for exceptional maneuverability on crowded jobsites.
- Versatility: Equipped with a universal skid steer adapter, operators can use a wide variety of attachments, including carriages, forks, buckets, hooks and work platforms, to perform multiple job site tasks.
JLG Recently Introduced the Ultra Compact E313 Electric Telehandler
JLG has had a busy fall. The company also recently unveiled the E313. It’s an innovative electric compact telehandler designed for zero-emission, low-noise material handling. Powered by a maintenance-free 18.6-kWh lithium-ion battery system, the JLG E313 electric telehandler is perfect for urban, residential and indoor construction projects where quiet, eco-friendly operation is essential. With a compact design and 9.3-mph travel speed, it excels in moving materials on all-terrain sites, offering maximum versatility in tight or sensitive environments.
The JLG E313 telehandler offers a 3,500-lb lift capacity, a 13-ft 1-in lift height, and a 5-ft 8-in forward reach, making it ideal for loading trucks or working at height in single-story buildings. Equipped with dual on-board chargers, the E313 supports continuous operation for up to four hours or extended intermittent use, maximizing uptime. Its two-speed electric transmission provides power options for varying terrains, while advanced safety systems, such as Load Stability Indication and operator presence alerts, enhance confidence and reduce risks during operation.
The E313 comes with a universal skid steer coupler system, allowing compatibility with a wide range of attachments like forks, buckets and carriages. This versatility minimizes the need for extra equipment, boosting jobsite efficiency. Standard features, including JLG’s ClearSky Smart Fleet system, enable seamless fleet management with two-way interactivity. With reduced maintenance costs, simplified serviceability, and eco-friendly performance, the E313 sets a new standard in compact telehandler innovation. For diesel-powered applications, JLG still offers the 313 model as a robust alternative.
