Understanding the MEWP Market: Trends, Products and Applications

Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), commonly referred to as aerial lifts, encompass a broad range of equipment, including scissor lifts, boom lifts and vertical mast lifts. These machines are indispensable for high-reaching tasks such as accessing tall warehouse shelves, maintaining infrastructure or working on construction projects. With their versatility, MEWPs have become essential across industries like construction, warehousing and maintenance. A major portion of the MEWP market is driven by rentals, as contractors and facility managers often prefer renting over owning to meet temporary or specific job requirements. Rental companies favor MEWPs due to their adaptability and relatively simple maintenance needs.

Electrification is a growing trend, driven by urbanization and stricter emissions regulations. Compact MEWPs, or micro lifts, are also gaining traction. These smaller units are perfect for confined spaces, such as urban jobsites or indoor environments, where larger machines are impractical. As industries evolve, MEWPs remain critical tools, offering flexibility, efficiency and safety for operators working at height. Whether for construction projects, facility maintenance or warehouse operations, these machines are a cornerstone of modern jobsite productivity. Some great MEWP models on the market include:
