Boilermakers seek experienced welders (is that you?)

The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers recently announced its Construction Division has an increasing need for experienced welders nationwide due to expanded project opportunities. Boilermakers in this division are engaged in constructing, maintaining and repairing: coal-fired, natural gas-fired, concentrated solar and nuclear power plants; oil refineries; steel mills; pulp and paper mills; and other heavy industrial projects.

“Construction Boilermakers have a reputation for being safety conscious and well-trained,” said Roger Erickson, Administrator for MOST, the training and safety arm of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. “While we are looking for experienced welders, each recruit will be required to meet our union’s qualifications and complete safety training courses. Programs developed through MOST are designed to elevate trade skills and promote the highest levels of safety on the jobsite.”

Since its inception more than 25 years ago, MOST has developed innovative programs that have led to a 90 percent reduction in OSHA recordable injuries, a 95 percent reduction in costs associated with welder certification and a 90 percent reduction in job site injuries.

With 42 local lodges across the United States, the Boilermakers play an integral part in the building repairing and maintaining of America’s energy and manufacturing infrastructure. Boilermaker work includes welding, rigging and steel erection necessary for the construction and repair of pressure vessels, boilers, stacks, tanks and large pipe networks.
