Electric Loaders: Cratos Electric Stand-Ons Are the Original Battery-Powered Tool Carriers

This article is part of a series on battery-powered compact loaders. In the coming weeks, we will be posting brand-specific stories summarizing the electric loader options from a variety of machine makers, including Volvo, Case, Toro, Volteq and beyond. Cratos Equipment is one of the true pioneers of electric construction equipment. The company opened for business way back in 2013 and is a leader in battery powered equipment for the demolition market. Over the past 11 years, Cratos has expanded its product fleet to include not only wheeled and tracked stand-on loaders (previously under its Sherpa brand) but also electric mini excavators, power buggies and high-tip dumpers.

The 100ECO (the original electric loader) has been altered over time with minor changes to make servicing the machine more effortless, but the overall size and mechanics of the machine have gone unchanged. The machine has always been 31 in. wide, weighed under 1,600 lbs and had a full dump height of over 6 ft. It is the perfect machine to clear debris in an occupied building with fume restrictions or general landscaping without the noise of a combustion engine.

Similar to the 100ECO, the 2Speed has a width of 31 in. that makes it easy to maneuver through single doors and into tight indoor areas. The newer mini skid steer also has a multi-functional speed setting that results in optimal performance and additional versatility. The 2Speed pushes harder and drives faster, all in the same compact size as its predecessor, the 100ECO. The machine has increased torque at the low-speed setting and can easily spin in a small circle, giving the operator complete control over the movements. When placed at high speed, the machine has a higher hydraulic flow, allowing the operator to travel longer distances faster.

Both units have a dump height of 73 in., breakout force of 1,315 lbs, machine weight of 1,770 lbs and a rated tipping load of 620 lbs.

Cratos’ newest model is the THR2000 electric compact track loader, which is a stand-on loader on tracks. Watch the video above. This unit takes all the awesomeness of the 2Speed and amplifies its strength, swapping out the non-marking tires and replacing them with tracks. The THR2000 has a dump height of 75 in., runtime up to nine hours, recharge time up to 15 hours (runtime can be cut in half with a 220V outlet) and a top speed of 4 mph.

“Our customers loved our equipment’s abilities to be used indoors, to be elevator safe and the ability to fit through standard sized doors,” says President Bob Maguire, “So we knew the THR2000 had to have those same features.”

One of the best features isn’t found on a spec sheet. The THR2000 is an all-American machine, manufactured here in the states at Cratos Equipment’s Pompano Beach, Florida, warehouse. A wise investment was made from the Cratos team to invest into a service department to ensure any maintenance requests can be fulfilled in a timely manner.

“For 10 years I have made sure that our customers know that when you buy from Cratos, you’re getting a partner,” CEO Alex Berg explained.
