The Gravely Brand Offers Four Atlas Job Site Vehicle Models
Ariens Co., established in 1933 in Brillion, Wis., is an outdoor power equipment manufacturer serving consumer and professional markets. The company’s international equipment brands include Ariens Sno-Thro and Ariens lawn and garden products for consumers and Gravely commercial equipment for the landscape management and facilities maintenance sectors.
The Gravely Atlas Job Site Vehicle (JSV) was derived from the company’s past experiences in the UTV category. With the organization’s understanding of the landscaping market, the decision was made to partner with Polaris to produce a commercial-grade utility vehicle with upgraded features that distinguish it from the crowded market. Together with Polaris’ expertise in power sports, Gravely produced a vehicle designed for the jobsite. After months of work between the two companies, the Atlas JSV was launched to the market on Sept. 22, 2014.
The biggest difference between the Atlas JSV and other UTVs in the market is the MX-18 job box. The all-steel box has a 1,250-lb capacity, while the Atlas 6000 machine has a 2,100-lb total payload capacity, which Gravely says allows users to carry more per load. In addition, the semi-independent suspension, part of the vehicle’s de Dion suspension system, helps the machine maintain ground clearance and maneuver difficult terrain while fully loaded. The size of the job box — 57 by 48.2 in. — can also accommodate a standard pallet, and the electric cargo bed lift, which comes standard on the machine, saves time and effort.
A wide variety of accessories are available for the Atlas JSV, including a landscaper rack for the job box and a snow configuration. The snow configuration for plowing makes clearing snow a quicker, more comfortable task. The kit features exclusive technology to make installation easy and an auto-retracting frame kickstand, which keeps the plow at the right height for drive-up attachment and detachment. In addition, a large-capacity Gravely salt spreader is available for the MX-18 box. The spreader’s dual variable-speed, digital control allows independent adjustment of spread pattern and material flow.
The MX-18 box landscaping rack configuration is designed to help professional ground crews, nurseries and municipalities. This kit transforms the Atlas JSV into a work station by transporting tools and equipment like string trimmers, backpack blowers, chainsaws and shovels, reducing the number of trips needed to get
supplies.
The Atlas JSV is available in four versions, with gas or diesel engine options on both the JSV-3000, which seats three people, and the JSV-6000, which seats six. The diesel models are powered by a three-cylinder, 1028-cc Kohler diesel engine that has a 110-amp alternator, allowing contractors to use multiple attachments with the unit. Gas models are run by Polaris 570-cc DOHC engines, using EFI technologies to save fuel. All models have a 10-gal fuel tank and can reach a top speed of 35 mph. The Atlas JSV starts at $12,999. With impressive towing capacity and heavy-duty suspension, Gravely says its Atlas JSV is dedicated to getting the job done with a level of power and performance to make any crew proud.
Advice to Buyers
“We want buyers to really take into consideration the jobs that they are going to be completing with the vehicle,” said Ariens vice president of marketing Matt Medden. “Look for a unit that stands apart from the competition. Look for a box or bed that is big enough to fit and haul a full-sized pallet. For jobs that require strength, unbeatable durability and a bigger capacity, find the right machine.”
