JLG Builds Out Full Line of Telehandlers for Ag and Compact Work

Telehandlers are gaining traction in agriculture applications in America, and JLG Industries is stepping up with a complete lineup purpose-built for the farm. Already popular in Europe, agricultural telehandlers are now taking root in North America. JLG’s new Agriculture Series includes five models designed for real-world ag applications — not just retrofitted construction or industrial units. From the press release:
“After 50 years as the market leader in access equipment for construction tasks, we’re leveraging our product expertise to deliver innovative solutions for the agriculture industry,” says Jamey Patla, VP and General Manager – JLG Agriculture. “Our agriculture telehandlers are aggressive, powerful and ergonomically designed, making them ideally suited for the demands of agricultural operations.”
Five Purpose-Built Ag Telehandlers
JLG’s Agriculture line features models from compact to heavy-duty, each built with farmers and ranchers in mind:
- AG313: Compact unit with 3,500-lb capacity and 13-ft maximum height
- AG519: Mid-size unit offering 5,000-lb capacity with 19-ft maximum height
- AG823: Heavy-duty model providing 8,000-lb capacity with 23-ft maximum height
- AG832: Extended-reach model delivering 8,000-lb capacity with 32-ft maximum height
- AG925: High-capacity model featuring 9,000-lb capacity with 25-ft maximum height
Model names represent their capabilities: weight capacity (first digit) and max lift height (last two digits). These machines offer tight turning radii, high ground clearance (up to 19 in.), and reduced ground disturbance tech — ideal for uneven or sensitive terrain.
Ag-Ready Features
Each machine comes with features made for ag tasks:
- Travel speeds up to 25 mph
- Three steering modes: 2-wheel, 4-wheel, crab
- Boom float and ride control for stability
- Short axle-to-hitch distance for towing
- Excellent attachment rotation for fast bucket work
From lifting feed bags to towing wagons, these telehandlers handle a wide variety of chores on the farm or ranch. From the press release:
“Our agriculture telehandlers provide greater lift height and forward reach, allowing farmers and ranchers to perform multiple tasks with a single machine,” explains Patla. “This versatility saves time, money and labor across various operations.”
Attachments for Every Ag Application
JLG telehandlers support a broad lineup of ag-specific attachments, including:
- Silage defacers
- Bale carriages
- Buckets
- Pallet forks
- Specialized lifting tools
Larger units (AG823, AG832, AG925) come with a hydraulic quick AG coupler. Compact units (AG313, AG519) use a skid steer coupler, making them compatible with common attachments farmers already own. From the press release:
“To minimize our equipment owners’ overall investment,” says Patla, “JLG telehandlers can also be used with many of the attachments currently used on farms and ranches today.”
Ag Dealer Network + Support
JLG is building a dedicated ag dealer network across North America. Dealers get exclusive territories and access to JLG’s full suite of support: financing, training, parts and a robust warranty (1-year general, 2-year drivetrain, 5-year structural). From the press release:
“At JLG, we know that reliability goes beyond the equipment — it’s about being there when our dealers and customers need us,” says Patla. “That’s why we’ve built a robust domestic supply chain, a dedicated support team and a strong parts and service network that provides dependable solutions for the North American agricultural industry. We are also actively building and growing our network of dedicated dealers to assist our customers throughout their ownership journey.
CE’s Innovative Iron Award Winner: JLG E313 Electric Telehandler
That’s not all. JLG is super focused on the compact telehandler market right now. Last year, the JLG E313 Electric Compact Telehandler won a 2024 Innovative Iron Award for pioneering zero-emissions lifting. Key features:
- 3,500-lb capacity, 13-ft 1-in. lift height
- Powered by six lithium-ion batteries
- Dual onboard chargers for flexible 110V/220V charging
- Quiet, zero-emission operation for indoor and urban jobsites
- Universal skid steer coupler for versatile attachments
- Up to four hours of continuous runtime
The E313 is ideal for tight, noise-sensitive environments. We’re sure it would also be awesome for ag applications. It’s a future-ready option that combines power, efficiency and sustainability in one compact package.
Another Big Drop: JLG 519 Telehandler
In late 2024, JLG also launched the 519 telehandler, a total redesign of the classic G5-18A.
Highlights include:
- 5,500-lb lift capacity, 18-ft, 7-in. height
- 10-ft, 10-in. forward reach
- Deutz 60-hp diesel engine
- Load Stability Indication (LSI), SEAOP safety system
- Redesigned cab with multifunction joystick and camera display
- Universal skid steer adapter for multiple attachments
- 44 percent fewer hydraulic fittings for better serviceability
The 519 hits that sweet spot for compact telehandler needs — great for rental, construction, landscape and even ag.
SkyTrak 8042: Big Power, Still Worth a Mention
JLG also reengineered its SkyTrak 8042 telehandler in 2024. While it’s a bit big for our compact audience, the updates are worth noting:
- 42-ft lift height, 29-ft, 6-in. reach
- Hydrostatic transmission with inching
- Electric-over-hydraulic joystick
- Advanced cab with multi-view cameras, backup alarms and sensors
- 30 percent reduction in hydraulic hoses
- No DEF required thanks to its 74-hp Deutz engine
This larger unit shows JLG’s commitment to innovation at every size class.
Why Compact Telehandlers Matter — On the Farm and Beyond
Compact telehandlers are having a moment. Their lift capacity, reach and tool versatility make them more than forklifts or tractors. In agriculture, they handle everything from feed to fencing. In construction, they’re perfect for residential builds, interiors and material handling in tight quarters. Add in skid steer attachment compatibility, electric and diesel options and a growing support network, and compact telehandlers become one of the most versatile machines on any jobsite. JLG’s expanded lineup — from ag-specific models to electric innovators — proves compact telehandlers are here to stay. Whether you’re moving silage or siding, there’s a machine (and an attachment) ready to do the job.
