Last year, World of Concrete 2016 attracted 60,000-plus professional registrants and showcased just over 1,500 leading suppliers. WOC 2017 will similarly feature exhibitors from around the world. Areas of the show floor include everything from The Producer Center, a marketplace of materials, equipment and demos for concrete producers, to World of Masonry, showcasing products, tools, information and technology for masonry professionals. New for 2017 is the Concrete Masonry section in the North Hall, showcasing everything for the producers of concrete masonry (block, segmental retaining wall units, veneer, slabs, pavers and more.)
Decorative Concrete LIVE! Las Vegas 2017 will take the stage at WOC 2017. A must-see for every WOC attendee, it’s the place top artisans and innovators from across the United States and around the world will gather to showcase the best in architectural and decorative concrete.
Get in on the action at World of Concrete with exciting competitions located in the Gold Lot, in front of North Hall. Returning favorites include the John Deere Operator Challenge, Western Star Trucks Get Tough Challenge and the Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 World Championship.
The show’s world-class education program will also be in full swing, featuring: 29 three-hour seminars; 45 90-minute seminars; nine four-hour certification seminars and examinations; 11 hands-on training events; two construction boot camps for field management; three decorative workshops with live demonstrations; and four train-the-trainer courses that meet state and federal requirements. There’s so much more that we can’t possibly include it all here.
Available in January 2017, Kubota introduces an addition to its popular KX excavator line with the new 3-ton class KX033-4 compact excavator. With a 24.8-gross-hp engine, an impressive breakout force of 8,138 lbs and a digging depth of 10 ft, 6 in., the KX033-4 can handle the toughest excavating jobs. A diverter valve was added which allows auxiliary oil to be diverted without the removal of the thumb attachment, for ease of attachment use. In addition, Kubota added a multitude of deluxe comfort enhancements to the KX033-4, including a roomier cab, large entrance, increased legroom, digital panel and enhanced ergonomics to reduce operator fatigue on the job.
Caterpillar has added the model 300.9D VPS (Versatile Power System) to its range of mini hydraulic excavators. The versatile design of the 300.9D VPS benefits both the owner/operator and the rental company by allowing the machine — in conjunction with its separate hydraulic power unit — to work either with its diesel engine or from a remote electrical power source, with no loss of performance. Having an electrical drive system remote from the machine enhances utilization and rental options. The 300.9D VPS can be rented alone for regular applications or with the hydraulic power unit when the job requires low noise and zero emission.
With a rated operating capacity of 3,400 lbs and bucket breakout force of 9,531 lbs, the 90-hp SV340 is Case’s most powerful skid steer. Ideal for running demanding, high-productivity attachments, the SV340 offers optional high-flow (38.7 gpm at 3,450 psi) and enhanced high-flow (35 gpm at 4,000 psi) auxiliary hydraulics. Heavy-duty 14×17.5 tires, additional counterweights and a long wheelbase provide a stable platform for high production and heavy attachments. The SV340 offers one of the widest cabs in the industry and the lowest entry threshold for easy access and greater visibility down to the bucket edge or attachment.
The new M2-Series compact loaders from Bobcat Co. offer a variety of performance, operator comfort and visibility enhancements to help increase operator productivity and provide enhanced machine uptime protection. Cab comfort is improved with an automatic ride control option and new front and rear cab isolators, door seals and side screen dampers to reduce vibration and noise. A redesigned top window improves visibility with a 34 percent increase in open area. A new reversing fan option allows loader operators to temporarily reverse the cooling fan direction to blow dust and small debris from the radiator and rear screens. This helps minimize downtime.
The all-new Gehl RT GEN:3 track loaders provide full-power strength, delivering impressive breakout forces in a durably built compact size. These all-terrain track loaders feature three models; the RT175 GEN:3, RT210 GEN:3 and the RT250 GEN:3, all designed with an optimized radial boom to lift and load with 1,750- to 2,500-lb capacities, reaching heights up to 128 in. The dedicated, welded chassis of the GEN:3 track loaders provide superior weight distribution for greater stability and extra tractive effort for multiple applications. The Gehl RT GEN:3 track loaders also feature the all-new patented IdealAccess fold-up door.
The Camso SKS 793S is a flat-proof solid rubber tire especially engineered to deliver enhanced tire performance for severe skid steer applications. Its massive tread depth ensures extended service life, while its innovative non-directional tread pattern provides greater durability and versatility. The Camso SKS 793S also introduces an improved elongated aperture design that enhances ride quality and reduces cracking without compromising the tire’s strength. This next-generation skid steer tire meets customers’ requirements for lower operating cost solutions for skid steers working on hard and abrasive surfaces where tire failures could eventually lead to expensive downtime.
The Doosan Portable Power P185WDO air compressor is powered by a Tier 4 Final-compliant Doosan D24 engine with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) aftertreatment system, which is virtually maintenance-free. The high-performance engine provides the P185 with reliable power and improved cold starting capability, while delivering a 7 percent increase in fuel efficiency compared to previous models. Proving that power doesn’t have to mean loud, the P185 offers one of the industry’s lowest sound levels at 74 dBA. With the Doosan D24 engine at the helm, the P185WDO delivers 10 hours of runtime at 100 percent load and 500-hour service intervals.
Chicago Pneumatic Construction Equipment is launching the new Red Rock CPS 110 portable air compressor at World of Concrete. Not only does the Red Rock have the ability to power two breakers with ease, but it also can work in the harshest conditions. The compressor’s canopy is made from extra-tough polyethylene. This protects the working parts and ensures the CPS 110 performs to its maximum capabilities, day in and day out. The CPS 110 offers a normal effective working pressure of 100 psi at 110 cfm. Featuring a Kubota D-902 T4F engine, the Red Rock has three cylinders and a power output of 18.5 kW at normal shaft speed.
Kaeser Compressors will feature its M58 Mobilair portable compressor at World of Concrete 2017. The versatile M58 delivers 210 cfm at 100 psig and is ideal for demanding applications. The Boxer 950HD includes many class-leading features previously found only on full-size skid steer models. With the industry’s highest hinge pin height, the 950HD can easily dump over a 6-ft side wall. The 950HD also features: a class-leading, 48-hp diesel engine; advanced electronic display with onboard diagnostic capabilities; multiple mode settings, allowing the operator to tailor the machine to the application; and two joystick operation patterns. Minnich Mfg. will showcase its A-1 Series drills — the most versatile single-gang concrete dowel pin drills on the market — at World of Concrete. This leading manufacturer of dowel pin drills, concrete paving vibrators and vibrator monitoring systems will display these efficient and accurate drills for general, road and runway construction. Contractors can configure all four Minnich A-1 Series models to drill four ways — horizontally, vertically, into a wall or 6 in. from a corner — eliminating the need to purchase additional equipment or conversion kits. Plus, the A-1 Series makes repositioning easy with the industry’s only units that can fit into 48-, 36-, 30- or 24-in. cutouts with the wheels on.
Atlas Copco electric Smart Pokers give contractors an efficient and convenient method to eliminate air voids in concrete. The pokers have a radius of action that is 12 times the diameter of the poker heads rather than the standard 10, so they work faster to remove air. And, because they are electric, they are a convenient option on construction jobsites powered by electricity or generators. The Smart Pokers use a convenient plug and poke system, which means users can simply plug them into to a 120-volt outlet and get to work. The 230-volt pokers feature a built-in frequency converter that eliminates the need for an additional converter to adjust the frequency.
Danuser and Digga Manufacture Cool Concrete Tools
Ideal for the demolition of parking lots, foundations, flooring, sidewalks, curbs and more, the Danuser Hammer model CB40 has a 40-in. drop hammer design that breaks up to 9-in. thick reinforced concrete.
