Unique Compact Track Loader Tech

We chat a lot about compact track loaders here at Compact Equipment. Can you blame us? These impressive, powerful machines are built with dedicated undercarriages and rugged tracks to navigate slippery inclines and delicate work surfaces without a problem. And you can’t forget the hundreds of attachments CTLs can use to tackle any task that comes along.

Aside from those benefits, manufacturers load their compact track loaders with cool technologies to elevate their performance. Let’s take a look at some cool tech built into popular compact track loader models — from Bobcat, John Deere and more.

Bobcat’s MaxControl

Bobcat MaxControl

Bobcat’s MaxControl remote operation technology allows operators to control their Bobcat loader and attachments from outside the cab, using an iPhone or any device running the iOS operating system. This is especially helpful when you’re shorthanded on the job site, allowing for quick, two-person jobs to be handled by one operator instead. In addition, MaxControl eliminates the need for operators to make repeated trips in and out of the cab.

Examples of tasks made easier with MaxControl include backfilling trenches, post hole digging, loading a machine onto a trailer, loading trucks, picking rocks and more. Advanced technologies like Bobcat’s MaxControl, Machine IQ wireless communications and Features on Demand  revolutionize the way you work while offering a smart, efficient way to get the most from your Bobcat machine.

Attachment Manager from John Deere

John Deere CTL

John Deere’s Attachment Manager is a cutting-edge technology designed to simplify attachment operation and enhance productivity. Available as an upgrade on the 331 and 333 P-Tier compact track loader models and standard on the 335 P-Tier models, this system enables preprogrammed flow and pressure settings for John Deere attachments, eliminating guesswork and optimizing performance.

Operators can view key attachment parameters in real time on the monitor and easily save or select preferred settings based on specific tasks. By ensuring proper machine settings, Attachment Manager helps prevent attachment damage, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. This intuitive system not only improves efficiency but also boosts operator confidence, making it easier to achieve consistent, high-quality results. Attachment Manager was designed with operators in mind, with an emphasis on ease of use.

JCB’s Single-Arm Boom

JCB CTL

JCB’s single-arm boom design, available on all JCB compact track loaders, skid steers and Teleskids, delivers greater visibility, easier access and reduced maintenance. Unlike traditional twin-arm designs, the single-arm boom improves side visibility by 60 percent, giving operators a clearer view of their surroundings for safer, more efficient operation.

The design also enhances accessibility. A side-entry door allows operators to enter and exit the cab without climbing over attachments, reducing slip-and-fall risks. The fully welded structure increases strength and durability, ensuring reliable performance on any jobsite.

Maintenance is simplified with fewer greasing points and a streamlined design that reduces service time and extends machine life. The absence of crossmembers in the lifting path allows for easier access to components, minimizing downtime.

EZ Trac from Case Construction Equipment

Case CTL

Case Construction Equipment’s EZ Trac brings next-level comfort, traction and durability to select Case B Series compact track loader models, including the TR340B, TV370B, TV450B and TV620B. Featuring an undercarriage that’s rigid mounted to the chassis with rollers mounted on pivoting bogeys, EZ Trac offers enhanced operator ride comfort and increased tractive effort performance on tricky terrain like mud, loose soil or slopes. Additionally, it’s maintenance-free and improves rubber track life.

Develon’s AVM Camera System

Develon AVM Camera System

An around view monitor (AVM) camera system is available as an option for the Develon DTL35 compact track loader. The AVM camera system with ultrasonic proximity sensors displays a 270-degree view of the machine’s surroundings for greater confidence when operating the compact track loader in tight work areas or busy job sites. The ultrasonic proximity sensors further enhance safety by alerting operators to nearby objects as they back up the machine.

A standard rearview (backup) camera lets operators easily see behind the machine, while four standard LED work lamps (two front, two rear) improve visibility during low-light or nighttime operations. Develon introduced its first compact track loader — the DTL35 — in 2024, and the company intends to expand its lineup with additional models in the near future.

Operator Comfort and Safety: Why Ergonomics Matter in Compact Track Loaders

JCB Teleskid

By Lee Tice, Product Manager, JCB

A compact track loader’s performance isn’t just about horsepower and hydraulic flow – operator comfort and safety play a crucial role in productivity. A well-designed machine minimizes fatigue, enhances visibility and reduces strain, allowing operators to work longer and more efficiently.

Cab Design and Visibility

A spacious, sealed cab reduces noise and vibration, helping operators stay focused. Features like a large entry door and unobstructed side visibility improve overall jobsite awareness, reducing the risk of accidents. Compact track loaders with single-arm boom designs provide 60 percent more side visibility compared to traditional twin-arm setups.

Ergonomics and Controls

Fatigue can be a major issue in long shifts, but intuitive controls, adjustable seating and responsive joysticks help alleviate strain. Loader cabs with adjustable armrests, climate control and touchscreen displays provide a more user-friendly experience. Side-entry designs also improve accessibility by eliminating the need to climb over attachments.

Serviceability and Maintenance

Daily maintenance checks should be quick and easy. Machines with rear-engine access and centralized service points reduce downtime by making routine servicing more efficient. Features like auto-lubrication systems and self-diagnostics help prevent issues before they become costly repairs.

Investing in a compact track loader with a focus on ergonomics and safety isn’t just about comfort – it’s about maximizing efficiency and long-term productivity. Whether working in construction, landscaping or agriculture, a well-designed machine keeps operators safer, more comfortable and ultimately more effective on the jobsite.
