United Rentals Inc. has received recognition for workplace excellence and military support from three separate outlets, the company says.

In total, the global construction equipment rental firm earned a ‘Best Places to Work’ award from Glassdoor, a Military Friendly® Employer Gold and Military Spouse Friendly Employer award from VIQTORY, and a spot on Newsweek’s ‘Most Patriotic Companies 2026′ list. The trio of industry awards “reflect United Rentals’ focus on fostering a culture built on safety, collaboration, professional development and service,” company officials say.

Craig Pintoff, EVP and chief administrative officer of United Rentals, thanked the company’s employees for their efforts over the past year. He says the company’s people are “the foundation of everything we do.”

“We are committed to creating a workplace where employees are supported and empowered to grow their careers,” Pintoff adds. “By investing in our people and fostering a culture built on teamwork and service, we strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional experiences for our customers and make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”

Empowering employees

In total, United Rentals currently employs about 28,500 across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The company says it is committed to creating an “exceptional” workplace for each of those employees, and supporting their continued growth.

The Glassdoor award the firm received this year highlights high levels of employee satisfaction, United Rentals representatives say, and the award is based on voluntary, anonymous employee reviews which are then submitted to Glassdoor. Specifically, the company was recognized for its opportunities for growth, as well as strong corporate leadership and “culture of empowerment.”

The company also has strong military ties, as evidenced by its other two awards this year. Military publishing VIQTORY and its Military Friendly® Employer Gold award “recognizes organizations that demonstrate leadership in recruiting, retaining and advancing veterans.” United Rentals also received VIQTORY’s Military Spouse Friendly Employer recognition, the firm says, for its continued support efforts of military spouses.

The company’s final award, a spot on Newsweek’s Most Patriotic Companies list for 2026, recognizes American companies willing to go the extra mile for military personnel. With a selection process based on formal military-forward programs, benefits, and initiatives, the publication conducts national surveys and independent research to find suitable candidates.

“Companies are selected based on formal programs,” United Rentals officials say of the Newsweek award, “benefits and initiatives that support military-connected individuals, as well as independent research, national surveys and media analysis.”
