Rock Solid Attachments (RSA) brings to market its first wave of attachments for compact equipment owners and operators. The new value brand of Berlon Holdings cracked the code, developing bale spears and pallet forks with toughness and affordability. Optimized for tractors, skid steers and mini skid steers, Rock Solid Attachments meet an ignored segment’s actual needs and budgets.

“On behalf of these hardworking men and women, we pushed our team of ‘tough and durable’ engineers and fabricators to tenaciously uncover a way to uproot this either-or paradigm.” says Randy Schickert, President and CEO, Berlon Industries, LLC. “With the same hard working ethics of our users in mind, we orchestrated a leading ingenuity and innovation that only sacrifices absurdity. We had fun, got dirty and got it done, so these customers can also have some fun, get dirty and get more done.”

The new line of products are available through a curated list of trusted dealers across the United States and ecommerce industry. The modular design of Rock Solid Attachments’ products boasts an appealing freight advantage recognized by dealers and users. According to Schickert, there was no shortage of dealers eager to add Rock Solid Attachments to their catalog of offerings. “In many ways, dealers and the ecommerce industry were also caught in this either-or paradigm. To say they were excited is an understatement,” says Schickert.

Built with Intent

In development, RSA zeroed in on elements that bolster durability and toughness where it matters. It also removed the unnecessary bulk and cost that worked against these users. With an intentional focus on strategic material and component sourcing, innovative design and a flexible modular platform unlocked a line of attachments that optimize machine and budget.

  • Strategically Sourced Material and Components. In dissecting the real needs of these users, RSA uncovered that thick domestic steel wore on their machines. Also, the thinner domestic options wore on their wallets. RSA engineers searched for the right material to compliment a rigid design that puts it in the right place. These efforts uncovered international ISO238 and ISA 2330 compliant steel that’s more than capable of tackling the job at hand. This not only saves costs and weight but allows RSA attachments to be more durable without wearing on the market’s most common machines.

When buying attachments, many consumers overlook the limits of their machine. Using A36 and G50 class structural steel, allows for thinner material stock that matches their primary mover. Less weight means more savings and more lifting capacity while keeping steel where it benefits strength. An example of this is the fork frame. This keeps the frame structure minimal in vertical components and robust in the horizontal components. In addition, RSA’s decision to integrate the mount into the frame removes excessive bulk, saves weight and lowers the price. Perpendicular gussets, rather than thicker steel, also make RSA attachments light yet strong. According to Schickert, high grade steel is often non-negotiable. For example, he highlights the fork frame’s top bar, which features A36/g50 grade steel. This is the same used in commercial construction grade fork frames.

Modularity and Design

RSA leverages innovative design to maximize durability, ship-ability, customizability and production efficiency. This provides a significant freight advantage that keeps costs low. “Product kits can be drop-shipped directly to a customer’s doorstep, in a parcel set you can’t miss,” says Schickert, “With minor assembly, you can get to those dirty jobs sooner.” With two convenient options, RSA’s shipping solutions were built to fit a customer’s needs and stretch their hard earned dollar. More products per skid means less skids per truckload, which means more savings for customers.

  • Option 1: The ability to fit up to five disassembled units on a 40” by 48” skid significantly reduces freight cost. Requiring only minor assembly, the units can be efficiently shipped across the continental United States.
  • Option 2: 4-parcel kits for Spee-dee. RSA’s modular design also allows for drop-ship availability that’s compatible with regional ground delivery services. See distribution map outlining which midwest states apply. Again, with minor assembly required, the attachments can be delivered directly to a customer’s doorstep.
  • Option 3: A single disassembled unit on a skid, requiring minor assembly. The modular design maximizes container capacity with a significantly reduced footprint while shipping.

Keeping Cost Down

Only sacrificing what you absolutely do not need, Rock Solid Attachments’ team of engineers focused on each attachment’s core purpose or function to eliminate expensive bells and whistles. They also incorporated bolt-on components (brick or bale guards) to allow for lower shipping costs via modularity while using a common frame. The attachment’s design compliments a leaner assembly process, allowing for robotic welding, increased manual welding efficiency and lower cost for the consumer.

“While we are incredibly excited about the release of the Pallet Forks and Balespears, we realize the overlooked needs of our users go beyond these two product categories,” says Schickert. “The catalog of Rock Solid Attachments’ products will continue to grow, addressing the needs of ignored consumers while remaining steadfast in our cause, keeping attachments affordable, tough and durable.”
