Massy Ferguson Compact Tractors — 2015 Spec Guide

13 Models, Including the latest 1700 and 1700E Series

Massey Ferguson entered the compact tractor market in 1979 with three diesel-powered models in the 16- to 26-hp range. Today, the seventh-generation lineup consists of 13 models up to 60 engine hp. The 1700E Series economy compact tractors bring operators a blend of power, productivity and value. This series offers new clean-burning Shibaura engines in 24 hp (MF1726E), 34 hp (MF1734E) and 38.5 hp (MF1739E). New this year, the 1700E offers the L105E loader. These easy to use and easy to service loaders boast a maximum lift height of 95.7 in. and 830 lbs of lift capacity (19.6 in. forward of pivot pin). Rural life-stylers and hobby farmers will delight in the number of jobs that can be accomplished with this tractor loader combo.

The 1700 Series premium compact tractors, built upon the success of the popular 1600 Series, deliver sophistication, comfort and performance, saysMassey Ferguson. These tractors feature new, clean-burning Tier 4-compliant turbocharged diesel engines.

Six models from 35 to 59 hp are offered in this series, all featuring four-wheel drive, the option of a cab or open platform, a choice of two transmissions, aCategory 1 rear three-point hitch and standard integrated loader joystick, making it easy for operators to build the perfect tractor for the job. All 1700 Series premium compact tractors also include a 540-rpm independent rear PTO with electro-hydraulic engagement and a wet multi-disc clutch, built to deliver greater durability and smoother engagements. An available mid-PTO is available on most models for even greater versatility.

According to Massey Ferguson, an industry-leading five-year factory warranty (two-year or 2,000-hour full coverage; five-year powertrain coverage) backs up both the 1700E and 1700 premium compacts.

Advice to Buyers

“Compact tractors can handle a wide range of tasks for a variety of customers — including personal or professional use,” says Warren Morris, strategic marketing manager for Massey Ferguson. “Look for brands that have a strong heritage and back up their products with extended warranties. Comfort and ease of use are key needs that customers look for when evaluating options. Dealer service and support is also top of mind.”
