Undercarriage expert Mattracks has introduced two new rubber track conversion systems — the RT60 and RT80 — designed for small articulated loaders or SALs and other small machines like trenchers and skid steers. These additions expand the company’s RT series to four models, offering options for equipment from nimble loaders to heavy-duty platforms. From the press release:

“The RT60 and RT80 were specifically developed to fit tighter wheel wells while maintaining full articulation and control,” said Richard Voeller, engineer at Mattracks. “They’re built for machines that need to move in small spaces without giving up strength or stability.”

Quick Look at Mattracks

Based in Karlstad, Minnesota, Mattracks created the first rubber track conversion system more than 30 years ago. The company now produces over 200 models for equipment ranging from ATVs to heavy commercial vehicles. Its products are sold in more than 150 countries and are used in construction, agriculture, military, oil and gas and other industries.

RT60 and RT80 — Built for Tight Spaces

The RT60 and RT80 were developed for small articulated loaders and pivot-steer machines with tight wheel wells. Both systems:

  • Maintain full articulation and steering control
  • Use a shorter, redesigned frame for improved maneuverability
  • Provide stronger traction and smoother ride quality
  • Feature swivel-mounted lower frames and rubber isolation mounts to reduce vibration and operator fatigue
  • Employ smooth treads on the tracks to protect finished surfaces

This design allows operators to make tighter turns and work on uneven, soft or indoor surfaces without sacrificing stability. From the press release:

“It’s all about better contact with the surface and reduced impact on both machine and operator,” added Voeller. “Whether in a building or on muddy terrain, these systems provide reliable traction and a smoother ride.”

Four Models for Different Demands

Mattracks’ RT lineup now includes:

  • RT60 and RT80 – For smaller, agile machines needing high maneuverability and ground protection
  • RT125 – For machines up to 12,500 lbs with independent rocker arms for rough terrain
  • RT250 – For machines up to 25,000 lbs with heavy-duty rubber torsion suspension

All RT models use Mattracks’ torsion system to maintain ground contact, improve traction and reduce bounce.

Supporting the Emerging Small Articulated Loader Market

Small articulated loaders are gaining traction in North America, especially in landscaping, agriculture, tree care and snow removal. Popular in Europe for decades, SALs combine maneuverability, low ground pressure and attachment versatility in a compact, transportable package. The RT60 and RT80 give SAL owners a way to boost traction and ride quality in challenging conditions. These track systems are compatible with many models (and different machine categories beyond SALs) from Bobcat, Kubota, Avant, ASV and others, making them a flexible upgrade for contractors who work year-round on diverse terrain.

See SALs in Action

Compact Equipment’s Machine Heads video on the SAL market is approaching 90,000 views. In it, editor Wayne Grayson explores four major SAL brands in the U.S. and compares them to skid steers and compact wheel loaders. Watch the video to see why this category — and upgrades like the RT60 and RT80 — are worth a closer look.
