United Rentals Inc. will demonstrate utility equipment, digital and excavation safety solutions at the Utility Expo (booths E1063 and K287) from Sept. 28 to 30 in Louisville, Ky. United Rentals will showcase industry-leading safety, technology and utility industry capabilities at the largest event for utility professionals and construction contractors.
At the Utility Expo, United Rentals will introduce the Truck of the Future, a fleet of utility trucks with a built-in tool tracking system which makes it easy to keep track of trucks, people and tools. The trucks are preloaded with tools that have permanent asset tags and integrated with United Rentals’ cloud-based equipment management solution Total Control to provide visibility into all the tools located on a jobsite.
Also at Utility Expo, United Rentals teams will do a series of in-booth educational sessions and equipment demonstration, and even perform multiple in-ground excavations featuring the company’s Mega Brace hydraulic bracing system.
“Between the two booths, we have so much valuable information to help managers work safely and more efficiently,” said Craig Schmidt, vice president, National Accounts at United Rentals. “From excavations and emergency response, to coordinated outage planning and solving challenges with grid congestion and process enhancements, United Rentals has the utility industry solutions and experience. At the Utility Expo, companies will learn how we can partner as a single-source rental provider to solve the biggest challenges utilities face and deliver quantifiable results.”
United Rentals Highlights Equipment, Digital and Safety Solutions
United Rentals serves utilities and contractors as a single-source solution provider, delivering general equipment rentals and specialty rentals that address specific utility industry requirements. Among the United Rentals solutions showcased at Utility Expo will be:
Total Control. United Rentals Total Control helps utilities and contractors make the most of their equipment fleet – rented and owned. Managing equipment rentals across projects, jobsites and departments is inherently complex. Total Control tames that complexity by acting as the single portal everyone in the enterprise can use to find out what they need to know about equipment on rent, in the context they need it. By putting information in context, Total Control drives efficiencies that in turn simplify the fleet management and procure-to-pay processes and help organizations derive more value and capture more cost savings from their rentals.
Trench and Confined Space Safety. Whether a utility crew is digging a trench or entering a confined space, United Rentals Trench Safety provides the worksite the most efficient path to safety through underground solutions and safety training. With more than 92 trench safety locations and the largest fleet of excavation and confined space rental equipment in North America, United Rentals provides customers customized, cost-effective trench safety and excavation rental solutions. It supplies OSHA-compliant trench protective systems including shoring, shielding, lasers and optical instruments, and more. United Rentals services help companies in pre-bid analysis on protective system solutions, on-site consultation and engineering designs that can be applied successfully on a project.
Other in-booth sessions include: Elevated temperatures in substations; Equipment best practices in electrified environments; Safe site sanitation solutions; and How to assess a temporary substation solutions. The Utility Expo, United Rentals
