Hypertherm Earns World’s Most Ethical Company Honor for Second Straight Year

Hypertherm, a U.S. based manufacturer of plasma, laser, and waterjet cutting systems, just announced its selection as a 2016 World’s Most Ethical Company by the Ethisphere Institute for a second straight year.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies designation recognizes organizations for having a material impact on the way business is conducted by fostering a culture of ethics and transparency at every level of the company. Hypertherm is one of 131 companies from around the world selected to this year’s list, and one of only two companies in the Machine Tools & Accessories sector. Other companies earning the “Most Ethical” designation include Deere and Company, GE, Cisco, and The Nature Conservancy.

“Companies rely on Ethisphere to continually raise and measure the standards of corporate behavior. Those that demonstrate leadership in areas like citizenship, integrity and transparency create more value for their investors, communities, customers and employees, thus solidifying a sustainable business advantage,” explained Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich. “Congratulations to everyone at Hypertherm for being recognized as a World’s Most Ethical Company.”

“This honor underscores Hypertherm’s commitment to leading ethical business standards and practices,” said Evan Smith, Hypertherm’s CEO and President. “Transparency, honesty, and integrity — long a part of Hypertherm’s core values and included in our Code of Ethics — not only define us, but ensure long-term value to our Associates, customers, and community.”

The World’s Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient™ (EQ) framework developed over years of research to provide a means to assess an organization’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way. The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies, rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics. The EQ framework and methodology is determined, vetted and refined by the expert advice and insights gleaned from Ethisphere’s network of thought leaders and from the World’s Most Ethical Company Methodology Advisory Panel.

Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance, corporate citizenship and responsibility, culture of ethics, governance, and finally, leadership, innovation, and reputation.
