Toro Refreshes Its Dingo TX 450 and TX 550 Compact Utility Loaders with a Modern Look

Toro kept it simple with its latest update to the Dingo TX 450 and TX 550. Both compact utility loaders now feature a sleeker, more modern design that aligns them with newer Dingos, but their capabilities remain unchanged. That approach fits their role in rental fleets, where familiarity, durability and ease of use matter more than new features. From the press release:

“Engineered for ease, the Toro Dingo TX 450 and TX 550 are intuitive to handle,” says Kaitlyn Ingli, product marketing manager at Toro. “These machines are powerful tools whether you’re planting trees and shrubs, moving materials around or installing irrigation. The refreshed Dingos offer an uncomplicated solution for projects that might otherwise be too labor-intensive to tackle by hand.”

Refreshed Look for Proven Rental Machines

The TX 450 and TX 550 sit at the small end of Toro’s compact utility loader lineup. They show up on rental lots, landscaper trailers and residential sites where a full-size skid steer would be excessive. The redesign focuses on cosmetics. Toro updated the styling, panels and graphics while keeping the frame, controls and operating specs the same. For rental operations, that consistency helps customers step into the machines with little learning curve. Both models retain their walk-behind configuration. That layout gives operators clear visibility to the attachment and helps the loaders work in tight yards or interior courtyards. Their narrow widths, low operating weights and zero-radius turning make them practical replacements for wheelbarrows and shovels rather than compact track loaders.

Dingo TX 450 Specs

The Dingo TX 450 remains the gas option in this pair. Core specs:

  • Engine: 25-hp Kohler Command Pro gasoline
  • Rated operating capacity: 535 lbs
  • Tip capacity: 1,530 lbs
  • Ground speed: up to 4.5 mph forward
  • Hydraulic flow: 11.4 gpm auxiliary, 16.9 gpm traction
  • Hydraulic pressure: 3,000 psi
  • Weight: 1,882 lbs
  • Width: 33.7 in.
  • Hinge pin height: 65.8 in.
  • Max operating height: 90.1 in.

At 33.7 in wide, the TX 450 fits through most residential gates and many door openings. The 5.9-in. tracks help keep ground pressure down to about 5.1 psi, so operators can work on lawns without leaving deep ruts.

Dingo TX 550 Narrow Specs

The Dingo TX 550 steps up to diesel power and more hydraulic muscle. The narrow version keeps the same width as the TX 450. TX 550 Narrow core specs:

  • Engine: 24.8-hp Kubota D902 diesel
  • Displacement: 901 cc
  • Cooling: liquid cooled
  • Rated operating capacity: 553 lb
  • Tip capacity: 1,580 lb
  • Ground speed: up to 4.5 mph forward
  • Hydraulic flow: 13.8 gpm auxiliary, 16.9 gpm traction
  • Hydraulic pressure: 3,000 psi
  • Weight: 1,904 lb
  • Width: 33.7 in
  • Hinge pin height: 65.8 in
  • Max operating height: 90.1 in

With a dedicated four-pump hydraulic system, the TX 550 delivers more flow to attachments while still feeling compact and approachable.

Dingo TX 550 Wide Specs

Toro also offers a wide-track TX 550 for softer ground and turf work. TX 550 Wide core specs:

  • Engine: 24.8-hp Kubota D902 diesel
  • Rated operating capacity: 553 lbs
  • Tip capacity: 1,530 lbs
  • Ground speed: up to 4.5 mph forward
  • Hydraulic flow: 13.8 gpm auxiliary, 16.9 gpm traction
  • Hydraulic pressure: 3,000 psi
  • Weight: 2,013 lbs
  • Width: 41 in.
  • Track width: 9.5 in.
  • Ground pressure: 3.4 psi

The wider track stance spreads the machine’s weight for lower ground pressure. That makes sense for landscapers working on finished yards or softer soils.

Dingo TX 1000 Turbo Brings More Power

Toro’s recent compact utility loader updates extend beyond these refreshed walk-behind units. The company has focused on higher-capacity and electric models, including the Dingo TX 1000 Turbo and the eDingo TX 750. The Dingo TX 1000 Turbo builds on the success of the original TX 1000 with a turbocharged 24.7-hp Yanmar diesel engine and improved hydraulic management. Its Smart Power system balances traction and auxiliary demand when using high-load attachments. The vertical-lift design delivers an 81-in hinge pin height and a 1,000-lb rated operating capacity. Service access improves with revised tank placement, and narrow and wide track configurations remain available. The TX 1000 also won a 2024 Innovative Iron Award.

eDingo TX 750 Goes All Electric

Toro targets interior construction and zero-emission jobsite needs with the eDingo TX 750. Its HyperCell lithium-ion battery provides a full day of runtime on one charge. The unit offers a 750-lb ROC, an 81-in hinge pin height and 11 gpm of hydraulic flow. A 31.5-in narrow-track version fits standard doorways, while a 37-in model supports turf or landscaping work. The fold-up operator platform helps the machine navigate elevators and tight spaces. Learn more about it by watching the Machine Heads video above.

With the refreshed TX 450 and TX 550, Toro maintains consistent, rental-friendly loaders that perform familiar tasks with updated styling. At the same time, the TX 1000 Turbo and eDingo TX 750 show how the company continues to expand performance and emissions-free options. The result is a wide lineup that covers everything from hand-tool replacement to heavy attachment work, now with cleaner looks on the smallest walk-behind models.
