Volvo CE Uses Electric Equipment to Build FIA World RX Tracks

Volvo Construction Equipment is back as the Official Track Building Partner of the FIA World Rallycross (World RX) Championship. The 2025 season kicks off this June, and Volvo CE is supplying a fleet of electric machines to build and maintain tracks across the globe. This partnership underscores Volvo’s ongoing commitment to electrification in high-performance environments. From the press release:
Bill Law, Head of Brand Marketing & Communications for Volvo CE, said: “The FIA World RX Championship continues to be a fantastic format to raise awareness of the transition to a more sustainable future for construction and motorsport alike. Through an unbeatable mix of state-of-the-art sustainable power and digital innovation, we are proud to be leading the way for a new era of high-performing electromobility. Thanks to our continued partnership with the FIA, the 2025 season is set to be more dynamic than ever before.”
Building Tracks with Zero Emissions

Volvo CE handles every aspect of track prep — from constructing features on existing courses to building circuits from scratch. The company uses electric equipment like the L120 Electric and L90 Electric wheel loaders and the EC230 Electric excavator, now capable of running for an entire workday on a single charge. Track maintenance and vehicle recovery also fall under Volvo’s responsibilities during the races. These demanding tasks require machines that offer both precision and power — with electric operation offering a near-silent, low-emission alternative to diesel.
Electric equipment gives Volvo CE a unique edge in the fast-paced world of motorsports. Because these machines operate quietly, they can work overnight or during off-hours without disrupting nearby communities. This flexibility is key when building tracks on tight schedules in urban settings like downtown Hong Kong.
The Only Gender-Balanced Team in World RX
Volvo CE’s partnership with the CE Dealer Team extends beyond machinery. As the only gender-balanced team in World RX, it highlights Volvo’s broader focus on inclusion and innovation. Drivers Klara Andersson and Niclas Grönholm will again compete under the Volvo banner in 2025.
Why Motorsports Marketing Works
Motorsports offer more than fanfare. These events provide global exposure, high-energy settings and the opportunity to show equipment in action. Volvo’s machines aren’t just moving earth in controlled demo zones — they’re racing the clock to build elite rallycross tracks in challenging environments. This positions Volvo CE as a performance leader in both sustainability and equipment design.
Volvo Is on a Growing List of OEMs in Motorsports
Volvo CE isn’t alone. Other brands have also embraced motorsports to raise brand visibility and connect with new audiences:
- Kubota extended its Trackhouse Racing NASCAR sponsorship through 2027. The brand also sponsors the American Rally Association (ARA) and supplies utility vehicles for rally support.
- JCB is the Official Heavy Equipment Partner of Monster Jam, introducing a new truck named DIGatron and supplying loaders for track work and vehicle recovery.
By aligning its electric equipment with a fully electric motorsports series, Volvo CE is showing that performance and sustainability can go hand in hand. The World RX partnership demonstrates what’s possible when construction tech meets speed, pressure and global attention — without the fossil fuels. Learn more about the World RX schedule here.
