This year’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG emphasized the importance of mental health in the construction industry. The show partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and raised more than $112,000 to support suicide prevention and mental health awareness initiatives.

According to the press release, the partnership brought attention to the importance of mental health and wellness in construction throughout the week. This was done through educational programming, onsite engagement and a dedicated wellness space for attendees.

AFSP’s Christine Yu Moutier took to the Ground Breakers Stage to discuss the growing focus on mental health in construction and the importance of creating supportive workplaces. During her presentation, Moutier highlighted the role employers, co-workers and industry organizations can play in reducing stigma and ensuring workers have access to the resources they need.

From the press release:

Attendees were also able to engage directly with AFSP through a dedicated booth on the show floor, where representatives shared information on suicide prevention programs, industry resources and ways companies can support mental health initiatives within their organizations.

In addition, the show featured a Wellness Lounge, providing a quiet space where attendees could step away from the busy show floor, recharge and access information about mental health resources available to the construction community.

“The construction industry is built on people, and supporting their well-being is essential to the future of our workforce,” said Dana Wuesthoff, show director for CONEXPO-CON/AGG. “Our partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention helped bring important conversations about mental health to the forefront while also providing meaningful resources for the men and women who power this industry every day.”

Support the Cause

Funds that were raised at CONEXPO-CON/AGG (and beyond) will support AFSP’s mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide through research, education, advocacy and support for those impacted by suicide. Interested in helping the AFSP? You can donate here.

Save the Date: The next CONEXPO-CON/AGG will be held March 13-17, 2029, in Las Vegas.
