Awesome infographic: How Civil Engineering Failures Advanced the Construction Industry

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that the recent Oroville Dam emergency is “a textbook example of why we need to pursue a major infrastructure package… dams, bridges, roads and all ports around the country have fallen into disrepair.”

Although any disaster is tragic, engineering failures, such as the Oroville Dam, have played a pivotal part in advancing the civil engineering industry and developing new technologies. An educational resource, developed by Ohio University’s online Master of Science in Civil Engineering program, highlights 5 civil engineering breakthroughs that led to design breakthroughs and new technologies.
