Loftness Unveils Redesigned Flail Mower Attachment for Skid Steers and CTLs

Loftness flail mower

Although the snow keeps falling here in Northeast Ohio, we’re dreaming of warmer days ahead. With spring on the horizon, Loftness’ newly redesigned flail mower will be the perfect solution for cutting grass, brush and more.

According to Loftness, its flail mower is designed to cut grass, weeds and brush up to ¾ in. in diameter. The redesigned attachment offers new knife options and an available floating hitch, plus other improvements for greater performance and durability.

Knife Options

Loftness‘ flail mower can be equipped with either duckfoot or flail knives to accommodate different applications.

From the press release:

Duckfoot knives produce a finer cut in easier cutting conditions, whereas flail knives are designed for use in tougher vegetation. Operators can quickly switch from one style to another without the use of tools.

Floating Hitch

Another addition to the flail mower is an optional floating hitch. This new feature includes front caster gauge wheels that follow the ground contour to produce an even cut, while minimizing the risk of gouging the surface. The floating hitch provides operators an easier way to achieve their desired cutting results without the worry of contacting the ground.

More on the Loftness Flail Mower

Operators can tackle a variety of tasks with cutting heights ranging from 1 to 7 in. With a floating hitch, the height can be easily changed by adjusting the rear roller and front caster wheels.

Made in the U.S.A., the Loftness flail mower is engineered using premium strength steel for long-lasting performance in tough conditions. The attachment features extra-large bearings for the rotor and rear roller to help ensure maximum reliability.

Other standard features include:

  • a high-pressure gear-type motor
  • a three-groove banded belt drive
  • a full-width roller scraper
  • anti-wrap bearing protection
