Terex Awarded $18.9 Million Contractor to Build Telehandlers for U.S. Marines
Terex Corp. is helping our armed forces reach new heights. The company announced Friday that it has been awarded an $18.9 million contract to build 200 Terex TX51-19MD, 5,000-lb capacity, Light Rough Terrain Forklifts (LRTF) for the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The initial delivery order is in the amount of $9 million for over 100 units, through its Terex Government Programs unit in Stafford, Va., and the telehandlers will be used to help lift supplies, spoils and equipment to elevated environments.
The Terex TX51-19MD LRTF is a fully-tested and mature “field proven” telehandler system that has been in the USMC inventory for many years, with initial competitive procurement in 2001. The TX51-19MD, manufactured by Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), is a militarized version of the original commercial model to meet the rigorous demands of the USMC, including: fording, beach operations, helo-transport and the full spectrum of military lifting missions.
“We are proud to continue our support to the USMC through this re-procurement,” said Thomas Manley, vice president, Terex Government Programs. “We have been fulfilling military contracts for close to a decade and the Corps has been one of our most loyal customers. They are demanding because of their mission and they deserve the best we can provide. We are pleased with the Corps’ continued confidence in our TX51-19MD. We have a first class project team in place, and recognize supporting the Corps with our equipment is a privilege that must be earned every day.”
“We are pleased to continue to supply our rugged equipment to the USMC,” said Dave Gillrie, GM Global Products, Terex AWP. “Genie and Terex compact rough terrain telehandlers are designed to meet the most extreme conditions of both commercial and military customers. These versatile machines respond flexibly and reliably to every mission, and they are specifically designed for ease of operation and service. We continue to improve our support to the military by providing quality equipment that is backed by our industry leading Genie 360° global services.”
Terex military telehandler customers can always count on the strength of Genie 360° services to guarantee they will never be out of reach of certified technicians. For this re-procurement, Terex will be providing a tailored extended five-year warranty to ensure operational readiness for the Fleet Marine Forces. Genie 360 global support can be readily expanded for military customers with field service representatives to provide certified work in restricted areas and during operational contingencies.
Terex Government Programs offers a full range of commercial and militarized Terex products for the U.S. military and Federal Government with flexible contracts in place to support their equipment needs.
