Manitou Group Highlights Expanded Electric Range + a Hydrogen Concept at bauma

Manitou MT 1840e

Manitou Group has a big presence at bauma this week. The company is highlighting a wide range of equipment, including its expanded electric range and a new hydrogen-powered prototype.

At bauma, Manitou Group has unveiled two new MT 1440e and MT 1840e electric telehandlers. These machines are powered by a 63-kWh lithium-ion battery and are designed to meet the most demanding requirements.

“These two high-lift models are the latest additions to our range of 100 percent electric telehandlers,” said Arnaud Boyer, VP marketing and product development at Manitou. “Their level of performance enables users to gain in productivity while reducing their total cost of ownership, with a reduction in energy-related costs of almost 75 percent compared with combustion models.”

According to Manitou Group, the MT 1440e and MT 1840e boast lifting heights of 14 meters (46 ft) and 18 meters (59 ft), respectively, as well as a load capacity of up to 4 tons. The telehandlers come equipped with an integrated 9-kw charger. They’re also compatible with the new Manitou 30- kw rapid charger.

Additional features include a moving speed of 25 km/h and a 13-m outreach for use in multiple configurations. The MT 1440e and MT 1840e come with a standard two-year warranty, with 70 percent battery capacity guaranteed after 5 years,. They will be available in Europe in late 2025.

MRT 2260 H2 Prototype

At bauma, Manitou Group is also showcasing the MRT H2 prototype, a new concept in hydrogen-powered rotating telehandlers. The company said the MRT 2260 H2 prototype “bears witness” to its active role in the development of hydrogen-powered electric machines.

From the press release:

The special feature of this model is that it is powered by hydrogen via a fuel cell, a technology that guarantees zero-emission operation. This second prototype, based on an electric configuration, offers a lifting height of 22 meters (72 ft) and a load capacity of 6 tons. It incorporates a hydrogen-powered range extender to supply the battery, offering a flexible, high-performance solution. Its design makes it easily removable, as it replaces the diesel range extender found on hybrid MRTs.
