Video: John Deere Goes Big with P-Tier 330 and 334 Skid Steer Loaders

John Deere’s skid steer lineup has continued to evolve with the addition of the P-Tier 330 and 334 units. Introduced in 2024, these large-frame loaders build on Deere’s G-Series with redesigned cabs, more hydraulic capability and technology upgrades. In the latest episode of Machine Heads Interviews, Compact Equipment’s Wayne Grayson sat down with Deere’s Emily Pagura to discuss the state of the skid steer market and how Deere’s lineup stacks up in 2025.

As mentioned, John Deere introduced its large-frame P-Tier skid steers in mid-2024, replacing the previous G-Series models. The 330P offers about 95 hp and fills the same role as the outgoing 330G. The 334P is an all-new model delivering 118 hp and a rated operating capacity of up to 4,000 lbs with counterweights. Both models feature a completely redesigned cab. Deere switched to a one-piece sealed cab that improves pressurization, visibility and noise levels. The entire cab now tilts up for easier service. Inside, operators get a larger, more comfortable space with modern displays and controls.

Technology is another focus. Deere offers an advanced LCD touchscreen display and optional Surround View cameras with 270 degrees of visibility. The 334P adds a pressure-compensated load sensing hydraulic system that maintains flow regardless of engine speed. This allows operators to run high-demand attachments like mulchers or cold planers more efficiently.

Deere’s Current Skid Steer Lineup

John Deere’s skid steer family now includes six models across three frame sizes.

  • Small frame: 316 P-Tier (radial lift) and 318 P-Tier (vertical lift). Both use 65-hp engines and shine in landscaping or confined spaces.
  • Mid frame: 320G and 324G. These vertical-lift models split by power, with the 324G at 74 hp and the most popular Deere skid steer by volume. It balances size, capability and cost without requiring DEF.
  • Large frame: 330P and 334P. These machines push power and attachment versatility, positioning skid steers closer to small wheel loaders in some applications.

This three-tiered approach gives Deere coverage from entry-level buyers to contractors needing maximum lift and hydraulic output.

Attachments and Applications

Deere continues to emphasize attachment versatility. Buckets and pallet forks dominate daily use, but the new high-flow hydraulics allow skid steers to handle more demanding implements. Cold planers, mulchers and heavy-duty brooms are examples where the P-Tier models excel. Deere even partnered with Wirtgen, which Deere owns, to co-develop a 40-in. cold planer optimized for its large-frame loaders. Enjoy the photo above.
