PENGO Long-Reach Auger Drive Mount

The PENGO Revolution Series Auger/Anchor Drive product line continues to evolve with development of a long-reach universal skid steer loader mount. The new long-reach mount is designed to provide maximum ground clearance by providing 7 to 11 in. of clearance depending on the drive model selected. The new design mount allows any size of auger drive (up to 12,000 ft-lbs) to be used and will stow securely in the mounts cradle without any adjustments. The unique design allows the drive to be positioned up to 48 in. away from the cab, maximizing visibility and increasing safety during operation. Bobcat Sonic Tracer/Slope Sensor Kit

The high technologies of automated grading are migrating to more and more small tool carrier equipment. A perfect example is the new Bobcat Co.’s sonic tracer/slope sensor kit for its M-Series loaders. The new kit offers operators a form of automatic grade control in applications where lasers may not be suitable. Laser grading requires the jobsite to be on a plane, whereas the sonic/slope combination can follow nearly any terrain. Much like a laser grading system, the sonic tracer/slope sensor kit provides contractors with accurate and automatic solutions by using four sensors mounted on the grader attachment. Danuser Wobble Auger

When it comes to the art of precision excavation, Danuser’s Wobble Auger makes accuracy, speed, safety and minimal restoration the mission statement of its posthole digger. The Wobble Auger produces a hole with no loose dirt in the bottom or around the top of the hole, making it an ideal tool for fence builders who have the troublesome issue of having an employee clean out the holes and remove all the dirt from around the hole to set the posts in concrete. The barrel of the auger is welded off-center which allows the auger to push and compact the material from the center of the hole to the outer walls of the hole. For more information, contact Danuser at 573-642-2246 or visit www.danuser.com.

Case Stump Grinders

Case stump grinders work to 12 in. below ground level. Each unit includes a skid steer mounting bracket, wire harness to the boom electrical connector, hoses and hydraulic couplers. The units have a 60-degree range of motion and can cover 45 in. in a single sweep. An offset-mount swing arm provides excellent visibility to the stump while grinding. Two models are available. The Case SG26 stump grinder, with a cutting diameter of 29 in. is designed for standard-flow hydraulic power. The Case SG30 stump grinder, with a cutting diameter of 33 in. requires high-flow hydraulic power. For more information on Case, visit www.casece.com.

EDGE Log Splitter

Stay in the comfort of the cab with this style EDGE Inverted Log Splitter,  operating all of the controls right from the seat. No more backbreaking log splitting. Simply position the log by pushing with the front of the splitter, lower the inverted Log Splitter over the log and engage the auxiliary hydraulics to split logs up to 24 in. long right on the ground. Or, position the splitter over a log, apply pressure and lift it up to transport to another location for splitting. The powerful cylinder on this attachment drives 20 tons of power to its splitting wedge, yet runs on a 10- to 20-gpm hydraulic flow. Do Skid Steer Attachments Fit onto My Small Wheel Loader?

Marcus Auerbach, Director of Compact Equipment at Wacker Neuson, Gives Us an Answer

Many compact-sized wheel loaders feature a universal style attachment bracket and will handle skid steer attachments very well, but there are a few things to pay attention to. If it is a power attachment like a snow blower, you have to make sure that the wheel loader has enough flow to run the attachment at a sufficient speed. If a snow blower does not have enough flow, the chute will not throw the snow very far and eventually clog up. You also want to make sure that the wheel loader can deliver enough hydraulic pressure for the attachment to create the necessary torque. Also your attachment may require electrical and hydraulic connections. Hydraulic couplers are normally flat faced 1/2- and 3/4-in. lines for high flow.

If your attachment requires electrical controls you have to make sure the wheel loader is wired for that and has the necessary switches on the joystick. If the machine is not equipped, consider asking your dealer to make the modifications. Be careful with buckets: The fact that a skid steer bucket fits on a wheel loader does not make it the right choice. Wheel loader style buckets are much taller and have a special geometry that is right for the wheel loader. Using a skid steer bucket may sound like a good idea and save a few dollars on the purchase, but it could really cost you as much as 40 percent productivity on the job, frustrate the operator and hold up the rest of the crew.
