The Leibys will be able to use the skid loader around the farm for three months or 150 hours.Gehl was good enough to give a Wisconsin farmer a three-month loaner this summer. The leading manufacturer of compact equipment for construction and agriculture applications presented Brian and Laura Leiby of Dorchester, Wis. with the free use of a Gehl model 5640E skid loader. The Leibys registered for the “Give-away” (for three months or 150 hours) at the Gehl booth at the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, held July 12-14 in Marshfield, Wis. The machine was delivered by Area Equipment of Thorpe, Wis.

“We didn’t believe it at first when we got the call about winning the loader,” said Brian Leiby. “We have a Gehl 4625 that has over 6,000 hours on it, so it’s nice to get a brand new Gehl to work with. We like the Gehl skid loaders because they are reliable with minimal downtime and have smooth hydraulics.”

Leiby works a 450-acre farm with 130 cows and 100 steers with his father, Lester and his brothers. Prior to winning the free use of the 5640E skid loader, the Leiby farm was familiar with Gehl loaders. They purchased a Gehl 4625 in 1999 with 2,200 hours. Twelve years later, the loader is still running and has over 6,000 hours.

“The new loader has two-speed and power-attach,” said Leiby. “This machine is mine. Everyone else can use the old one.”
