GIE+EXPO: Ditch Witch Showcases SK850 Mini Skid Steer
Those who stopped by the Ditch Witch booth at the 2014 GIE+EXPO got their first glimpse of the latest mini skid steer from the Perry, Oklahoma-based company.
The Ditch Witch SK850 mini skid steer delivers more power to the attachment with its class-leading 37-hp Tier 4 Yanmar diesel engine. The 29-hp of hydraulic power delivered to the attachment helps operators increase performance of dozens of attachments for a wide range of tasks, including landscaping, plumbing and underground utility.
Built to outperform, the Ditch Witch SK850 features 860-lb rated operating capacity (SAE), 83-in hinge-pin height and 4.7-mph ground speed in both forward and reverse. A standard auto-throttle reduces engine throttle when not under load for greater efficiency and enhanced safety. Its exclusive high-drive track system has bolt-on interchangeable sprockets and wide track rollers to ease maintenance and enhance track life.
A mini skid steer is nothing without an operator and Ditch Witch believes that a more comfortable operator is a more productive operator, and the SK850 embodies this philosophy. Its 74-square-inch (188-cm2) platform is larger and higher than the competition’s, giving the operator increased comfort and stability while keeping them above the worksite.
The ergonomic operator’s station has been updated with new, customer-requested features, for optimized comfort and efficiency. Dual-lever ground drive controls come standard, with an optional single-lever joystick available. An auxiliary control foot pedal helps operators maintain hydraulic flow to the attachment while freeing their hands to control depth and ground speed.
