Case Skid Steers — 2015 Spec Guide
Major New Product Introductions Realign Entire Skid Steer Line
Case has realigned its skid steer lineup over the last two years, culminating with the introduction of four new and updated models at World of Concrete 2015. Manufactured in Wichita, Kan., the latest generation of Alpha Series skid steers features class-leading breakout force, torque, hydraulic flow and 360-degree visibility — according to Case. The company is also the first manufacturer to take its entire product line Tier 4 Final. Case offers a three-year, 3,000-hour complete factory warranty on its entire line of skid steers.
Case manufactures nine skid steer loaders, ranging in rated operating capacity (ROC) from 1,300 up to 3,000 lbs. This includes six radial-lift skid steers ranging in ROC from 1,300 to 2,700 lbs, and three vertical-lift skid steers ranging in ROC from 1,850 up to 3,000 lbs. Two of the new models introduced in 2015 are the SR240 and SV280. Both feature a particulate matter catalyst (PMC) — a maintenance-free emissions solution that requires no diesel particulate filter (DPF), no DPF regeneration or replacement and no fluids to add. The all new SR270 and SV300 are also Tier 4 Final, featuring selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. At 90 hp and 2,700 lbs operating capacity, the SR270 is the industry’s largest radial-lift skid steer.
Rated at 74 hp, the SR240 and SV280 deliver torque of 232 ft-lbs, a bucket breakout force of up to 8,776 lbs and standard hydraulics (24.2 gpm) and high-flow auxiliary hydraulics (37.6 gpm) for power and attachment versatility. Weighing in at 7,400 lbs, the SR240 is an all-purpose skid steer that offers an ROC of 2,400 lbs, while the new 8,090-lb SV280 offers an ROC of 2,800 lbs. The Tier 4 Final solution on both machines is entirely maintenance free, with no filters to maintain or replace and no fluids to add.
The new models weigh in at 8,117 (SR270) and 8,655 (SV300) lbs, deliver torque of 282 ft-lbs and bucket breakout force up to 8,776 lbs.
With the introduction of the SR270 and SV300, Case offers a number of heavy-duty features as standard equipment for reliability in tough working conditions. This includes a heavy-duty 950 CCA battery for consistent starts in cold weather, a heavy-duty rear door for added protection, industry-exclusive heavy-duty front and side lighting for working all hours of the day and a block heater and an easily accessible remote jump-start.
Advice to Buyers
“Pick your lift path [vertical or radial] and pick a rated operating capacity slightly higher than your average workload. That provides you an excellent starting point,” says Warren Anderson, brand marketing manager, Case Construction Equipment. “From there, pick the options that best suit your application, and never cheat yourself on auxiliary hydraulics. The right hydraulics can save you a lot of money in future equipment rentals, for example.”
