Takeuchi Introduces World’s First Fully Electric Hydraulic Excavator (Video)
Once again Takeuchi Mfg. introduces another world’s first. On two previous occasions, both at separate CONEXPO-CON/AGG shows, Takeuchi introduced the first compact excavator and later the first compact track loader to North America.
At CONEXPO 2011, Takeuchi introduced the world’s first fully electric hydraulic excavator. A live demonstration was presented every hour drawing large crowds and media attention. You often hear of products that claim to have reduced emissions and smaller carbon footprints, but you rarely hear of a product that has evolved and become truly “green.” The TB117e electrically powered compact hydraulic excavator will break new ground in sustain¬able and environmental technology in the construction equipment industry.
The TB117e is unique in that it utilizes a lithium-ion battery that when fully charged can power the machine for up to six hours of uninterrupted service, and performance that is on par with the current TB016 – a bucket breakout force of 4,079 lbs, arm crowd force of 1,704 lbs, traction force of 3,801 lbs and a top travel speed of 2.9 mph.
Takeuchi has made rapid advances in design and technology. A clear digital display keeps the operator informed of the machines existing battery power, so the operator can ensure that there is ample power to perform the task at hand. The TB117e can be re-charged and ready to work again within 6 to 12 hours depending on the power source. The machine is equipped with an onboard charger making it convenient and easy to hook-up and charge. Another feature is the ability to use the on-board plug-in to power the machine continuously if you are working near a power source.
The TB117e is also water resistant so there is no need to worry about working in wet conditions. The TB117e can be used indoors or outdoors, but its greatest benefits are its ZERO exhaust emissions, and reduced vibration and sound levels making it an ideal machine for use in hospitals, schools, shopping centers, high rise buildings and other highly congested areas. The TB117e is capable of performing a variety of tasks such as demolition, cleanup, foundation work and plumbing to name a few. The TB117e also has a retractable undercarriage allowing it to go from a stable 51 in. wide to a minimal width of 39 in. This makes the TB117e a great machine for working in confined spaces.
With the TB117e you will realize up to an 80 percent reduction in running and servicing costs. Imagine no longer needing diesel fuel, fuel filters, engine oil and engine oil filters. Your only maintenance requirements would be to lubricate the work equipment, change your hydraulic oil and filter at regularly scheduled intervals, and of course keep the machine charged and ready for the next day.
