Kubota Excavators — 2016 Spec Guide

KX-Series and U-Series Deliver Power and Utility

Decades ago, Kubota released its first excavator and today produces the top-selling excavator in the world 12 years running, according to 2015 OEM Off Highway research. Ranging from 1 to 8 tons, Kubota’s excavator models are available with zero, tight or conventional tail swing with a range of 10 to 70 gross hp. Kubota’s KX-Series excavators have earned high market acclaim, says Kubota. The KX080-4 delivers a breakout force of 14,660 lbs, with the KX057-4 offering a powerful 11,177 lbs and the KX040-4 serving up 9,535 lbs.

This series features an advanced load-sensing hydraulic system that provides optimum oil flow to each cylinder, making operation under any load easier and smoother. The lineup also features Kubota’s Eco Plus system that prioritizes fuel economy, and the Auto Idling System that significantly reduces fuel consumption and noise to increase operator comfort and allow work in residential areas.

Kubota’s hydraulic 6-in-1 blade is a Kubota-exclusive option, available on the Kubota KX040-4 compact excavators. The 6-in-1 blade is designed with a standard-equipped, bolt-on cutting edge (BOE) that protects the blade. The tilt cylinder is covered for durability and protection from soil and rocks, and the reversible cutting edge is divided into two sections that invert for easy maintenance and simple replacement.

Kubota’s U-Series zero and tight tail swing excavators offer performance, durability, convenience and comfort to help operators tackle tougher jobs in even tighter spaces. Ultra-durable, ultra-maneuverable and ultra-productive, the U-Series is available in four models, each equipped with a Kubota E-TVCS diesel engine. The line offers tough bucket breakout forces: the U17 with 3,417 lbs, the U25S with 5,765 lbs, the U35-4 with 7,924 lbs and the U55-4 with 11,177 lbs.

Advice to Buyers

“There are many factors to consider when purchasing a compact excavator. One feature that should be top-of-mind is how the machine prioritizes power and fuel economy; buyers should know that they no longer need to choose one over the other,” says Tim Boulds, Kubota CE product operations manager.
