Hyundai Introduces the HW100A Wheeled Excavator to its North American Lineup

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America just added the 25,221-lb HW100A to its wheeled excavator arsenal. With a dig depth of 13 ft, 11 in. and a 101-hp engine, the Hyundai HW100A is powerful enough for a variety of applications. It is especially useful for road and bridge work, roadside projects and other jobs where the ability to move on paved surfaces is critical. The compact HW100A offers operators a machine with 360-degree swing capability and an articulated boom — allowing them to work in congested and tight spaces.
“The Hyundai HW100A is versatile enough to tackle multiple jobs across a variety of applications,” said Julio Vargas, product manager, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America. “Operators and owners alike will appreciate the comfort, versatility and available options, while enjoying the power and performance on the HW100A.”
The new HW100A excavator is loaded with features such as:
- a spacious cab with a full-length glass door for ease of entry and egress
- a heated, air-suspension seat
- an 8-in. touchscreen display
- right and rearview cameras
- LED light package
- long-life brakes
- five years of Hyundai’s proprietary Hi MATE telematics for remote monitoring and support
- three power modes — Power, Standard and Economy
- a two-piece boom for enhanced reach and versatility
- a front bucket rest
- a rear dozer blade
- other comfort- and safety-related features
According to Hyundai’s press release, the HW100A boasts a maximum speed of 24 mph and offers three steering modes: four-wheel round, four-wheel crab and two-wheel. The company says four-wheel round steering provides the tightest turning radius, plus the traction and control needed for operating on rough terrain. Operators can utilize four-wheel crab to maneuver diagonally, while two-wheel steering delivers better fuel economy while still providing agile handling.
More on the HW100A
Operators can choose from four work modes when using the HW100A. The company highlighted those settings in its press release:
- The one-way setting lets operators control boom and bucket operation independently for precision tasks like leveling and fine grading.
- The two-way setting synchronizes operation of the boom and bucket, which is more efficient for high-production tasks like truck loading and trenching.
- The digging setting provides optimum efficiency and power for heavy-duty excavation tasks, such as for foundation work.
- The lifting setting works best for applications that involve lifting, moving and placing heavy objects or materials for sanitation and utility work.
The Hyundai HW100A is also equipped with quick coupler piping and selectable control pattern (ISO/SAE). It will be available through Hyundai dealers in the second quarter of 2025.
