Caterpillar Unveils MP318 and MP324 Multi-Processors

Building on the success of its previous generation ofmulti-processors for Cat hydraulic excavators, Caterpillar Work Tools releasedits Multi-Processor MP318 and MP324 models.

The multi-processors can handle virtually any demolitionjob by using the basic housing and a choice of up to six available jaw sets. Othermodels are planned for a later stage.

Features include compact weight-to-power ratio, with strongcutting and crushing capability. The housing’s strong rotator provides acontinuous 360-degree rotation that allows the user to carry out the demolitionjob quickly and precisely from any angle.

Available jaw sets are the Concrete Cutter, Demolition,Pulverizer, Shear, Universal and Tank Shear. With one common housing andproperly selected sets of jaws, a contractor can achieve exceptionalflexibility with minimum investment, and accomplish most tasks encountered on ademolition job.

The various jaws can be quickly installed or changed,thanks to a new patent pending jaw locking system. Instead of taking about 45minutes to change the jaws with the previous series, it now takes 10 minuteswith basic tools.

The new jaws use bolt-on and pin on wear materialeliminating almost all need to weld the jaws. Protection for hydrauliccomponents and hoses has increased, and an improved motor guard gives greatermotor protection. Access to the cylinder is easier and designers optimized thecylinder rod protection.

The number of greasing points has been reduced soservicing becomes easy. Daily maintenance requires only greasing, checking wearand replace any worn parts.
