GIE+EXPO Is This Week, and Here Are the Hot New Products at the Nation’s Biggest Green Industry Show

GIE+EXPO

Just like its green industry attendees, GIE+EXPO continues to find ways to make things grow. With the combination of new Wednesday hours, ever-evolving educational tracks, increased exhibitors and awesome entertainment, the biggest lawn and landscape show in America is shaping up to maybe be even bigger than the last three record-setting years. The annual trade show, held in Louisville, is set for October 17-19 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Online registration is available at gie-expo.com. Attendees can expect to see more new products than ever as the number of new exhibitors at GIE+EXPO and the co-located Hardscape North America increases each year. In addition, the Outdoor Demonstration Area, which offers the opportunity to test new products from both shows, is expected to meet or exceed last years’ record-breaking 20 acres.

As a result of the show’s continued growth, a new format will be implemented, allowing contractors an extra day on the show floor. Following an earlier dealer preview on Wednesday, the indoor exhibits will open for the entire industry from 3 to 7 p.m., including a welcome reception on the show floor beginning at 5 p.m. The indoor exhibits and Outdoor Demonstration Area will be open Thursday and Friday for all industry members.

Back by popular demand, the GIE+EXPO Workshops will feature 10 sessions to help landscape pros grow their businesses. This year’s lineup will include two hardscape sessions with insights and tips for contractors interested in tapping into that market. Other workshops, which are sponsored by the National Association of Landscape Professionals, include topics such as marketing strategies, safety programs, developing a new generation of professionals and more.

Not to be forgotten: GIE+EXPO boasts some of the best entertainment in trade shows. Attendees can enjoy three nights of free concerts at Fourth Street Live! in downtown Louisville: The Crashers (Oct. 16); Kelleigh Bannen and Colt Ford (Oct. 17); and Mackenzie Porter and Jana Kramer (Oct. 18). John Deere SS30 Stump Shredder

John Deere SS30 Stump Shredder

Optimized for the new mid- and large-frame G-Series skid steers and compact track loaders, the new SS30 model Stump Shredder removes stumps from 8 to 28 in. in one pass. Larger stumps are easily removed with multiple bores. It’s low-speed, high-torque auger planetary drive shreds tree stumps with reduced incidence of high-speed flying debris when compared to conventional stump grinders, says John Deere. Despite its slower operating speeds, stump removal is also faster than conventional grinders. Site cleanup is easy thanks to the small, contained chip pile produced by the attachment. Operators can bore up to 20 in. into the ground to remove stump feeder roots. For more info, visit booth 1110.
