Breaker Experts at Okada America Expand Medina, Ohio, Sales and Service Center

Okada hosted an open house in July

Okada hosted an open house in July, which included a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by (L-R): Jaclyn Ringstmeier, Medina Chamber of Commerce executive; Dennis Hanwell, mayor of Medina; Joe Canestraro, Sharon Township trustee; Jim Brown, president Okada; and Devon Diello, Medina Chamber of Commerce membership and events coordinator.

Okada has a rich history of developing, selling and servicing both pneumatic and hydraulic attachments for the construction and demolition industries, including compact tool carriers like skid steers and mini exs. The company started selling breakers in North America in 1981. In early 1996, the formation of a joint venture company known as Okada America Inc. was formed which dramatically increased both sales and product offerings. Okada America Inc. was initially located at two different Medina, Ohio, locations and finally in 2014 settled at its present location at 904 Medina Rd.

The most recent expansion for this breaker attachment brand, which started in 2018, has taken place at the Medina Sales and Service Center with the acquisition of a 10,000-sq-ft building. Three buildings are now included in the complex with the administrative and service personnel moving into the newly acquired building. The original administrative building will now be used as a year-round Sales and Service Training Center.

The newly acquired building now includes an expanded reception lobby, administrative offices, product display area and increased mounted attachments inventory space. Other upgrades in the Service and Assembly Building include all-new reinforced concrete floors, a 6-ft deep work pit for the dismantling and re-assembly of hydraulic hammer top-mounting brackets and power cells and the installation of a 10-ton overhead crane with a 35-ft runway.
