Makita expands brushless lineup with new cordless circular saw
Makita has released the new 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 6 ½-in. Circular Saw, model XSH03M. The efficient brushless motor and the exclusive Automatic Speed Change Technology gives contractors unmatched cutting performance. It’s powered by the efficient 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah battery for longer run time and the industry’s fastest charge time.
The new XSH03M is part of Makita’s expanding 18V series, which offers 100+ tools and is the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

Makita BL Brushless Motor Technology
The XSH03M is powered by Makita’s efficient BL Brushless motor, which is electronically controlled to optimize battery energy use for up to 50 percent longer run time per charge than similar non-brushless tools. Electronic controls efficiently use battery energy to match torque and RPM to the changing demands of the application for increased power and speed when needed. And since there are no carbon brushes, the BL Brushless motor runs cooler and more efficiently for longer life.
Automatic Speed Change Technology
The XSH03M features Automatic Speed Change Technology, which adjusts speed and torque under load for optimum cutting performance. This, combined with the efficiency of brushless, delivers 5,000 RPM for faster cutting and ripping. With a 6 1/2-in. blade the XSH03M has a cutting capacity of 2 1/4 in. at 90 degrees and a bevel capacity of 0-50 degrees.
More Features, Less Weight
The reinforced magnesium base is engineered for added durability and less weight (only 7.3 lbs. with battery). The saw includes a three-stage L.E.D. indicator that monitors battery charge status. Additional features include a retractable tool hook, electric brake for maximum productivity, rubberized soft grip handles for increased comfort, dual L.E.D. lights to illuminate the line-of-cut, and a built-in dust blower engineered to clear the line-of-cut for improved visibility.
XPT for Added Durability
For added durability, the XSH03M features Extreme Protection Technology (XPT). XPT is a protective seal inside the tool engineered for improved water resistance by channeling water and dust from the tool’s key internal components. The XPT-equipped XSH03M is engineered for improved operation in harsh jobsite conditions.
Star Protection Computer Controls
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, the XSH03M features Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.
