Skyjack, a division of manufacturing company Linamar Corporation, has announced the launch of its new battery powered electric slab booms.

Known as the SJ45 AJN and SJ45 ARJN, the two new machines boast a starting working height of 50’11” despite a relatively compact design. The machines are zero emission and low noise, the firm adds, and are designed for “superior performance across indoor and outdoor jobsites.”

“The SJ45 AJN and SJ45 ARJN include many of the quality-engineered design features users have come to expect from Skyjack,” says Charlie Patterson, president of Skyjack. “Outstanding turning capability, combined with Skyjack’s exclusive SKYRISERTM and EASYDRIVETM, allow for high-level functionality in a wide range of maintenance, industrial, renovation, and event applications where ground space is restricted.”

The SJ45 AJN also provides “class-leading” access capability for up-and-over maneuvers at 25’7″. The ARJN is one of the only machines in its class to feature a rotating jib, and both machines are narrow enough to access through standard sized double doors.

Skyjack says the machines’ weight of less than 16,000 pounds also helps to increase ease of transport and access.

Electrified, but simplified

The two new electric machines sport “exceptional” duty cycles, according to the company. Additionally, the firm touted the machines’ controllability and power, as well as torque and traction.

“Direct electric AC drive features two-wheel motors operating in parallel to maximize gradeability and efficiency,” the company adds, “while speed-sensing traction control reduces loss of traction and tire scrubbing.”

The driving forces in the creation of the new electrified machines were “proven and simplistic controls,” the company says. The equipment features a single controller system with color-coded and numbered wires, officials add, promising ease of maintenance.

“Rental companies and major contractors face increasing demands for sustainability information,” says Corey Connolly, Skyjack’s head of product management. “The SJ45 AJN and SJ45 ARJN’s ECO mark supports our customers by delivering environmental performance benefits and long-term sustainability.”

The SJ45 AJN and ARJN are both available now in both North America and Europe, according to Skyjack representatives.
