Video: Machine Heads Reviews Kubota’s Largest Compact Track Loader — the Revamped SVL97-3

Wayne Grayson is back with a fresh Machine Heads episode — and this time, it’s not about tiny machines — well sort of. The spotlight is on Kubota’s biggest compact track loader: the SVL97-3. This Dash-3 update brings serious improvements in comfort, performance and productivity. It’s a full step forward from the SVL97-2, not just a model number change. Let’s dig in.

New Cab, Major Comfort

Kubota gave the SVL97-3 the same sealed one-piece cab found on the SVL75-3. It blocks out dust, debris and noise far better than before. The upgraded HVAC system delivers 40 percent more airflow, better vent placement and improved controls. A heated air-ride seat is now standard on enclosed cab models. Other operator upgrades include:

  • 7-in. touchscreen display
  • Rearview camera
  • Keyless start
  • Delayed-shutoff exterior LED lights

The result: a much quieter, more comfortable workday.

More Power, More Productivity

Kubota CTL

This CTL runs on a 96.4-hp Kubota engine. Top speed is up to 8.4 mph. Rated operating capacity is now 3,459 lbs — an 8 percent gain over the previous model. Add optional counterweights and you can boost that capacity another 200 lbs. Kubota achieved this by making the machine about 400 lbs heavier and tweaking the loader arm geometry. A higher cross pipe is the only visible change, but the impact is real.

The SVL97-3 features a new hydraulic pump that improves multifunction control and reduces cycle times by 20 precent. The pump prioritizes flow to key systems like the arms, bucket curl and auxiliary hydraulics for smoother performance. An automatic downshift system also helps. It shifts from high to low range when turning or entering a pile, keeping RPMs high while improving control.

Smarter Attachment Control

You can now program flow settings for 20 different attachments (up from five). The system also displays live auxiliary pressure, so you can monitor performance instead of guessing or listening for stalls.

Kubota Shockless Ride (KSR)

KSR comes standard on enclosed cab models. It uses a hydraulic accumulator to smooth out bumps and keep material in the bucket. It also softens the ride for the operator.

Easier to Maintain

Kubota improved serviceability with a swing-out radiator that offers better engine access. The sealed cab tilts up easily after removing two bolts, giving clear access to hydraulic components. New cleanout panels simplify debris removal.
