Case Compact Track Loaders — 2014 Spec Guide
Case has manufactured compact track loaders since 2005 in its Wichita, Kan., plant. The Case lineup today includes three models: the TR270 (radial), TR320 (radial) and the TV380 (vertical).
The newest model, the TR270, is ideal for landscaping, residential construction and agricultural work due to its light weight, low ground pressure, narrow design and attachment versatility. The 74-hp model has an increased bucket breakout force of 7,270 lbs, 232 ft-lbs of torque, a standard hydraulic flow of 24.2 gpm and an optional high flow of 32.4 gpm. The Tier 4 Final TR270 compact track loader features a cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) engine with a particulate matter catalyst, which is made up of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a high-efficiency flow-through filter. This offers an efficient and maintenance-free Tier 4 solution since it doesn’t require fluids or filter replacement, says Case.
The TR270 has also been outfitted with an EZ EH (electro-hydraulic) setup menu that has nine preset speed and control settings that can be adjusted on the fly, allowing the operator to match controls to their preference for comfort and greater productivity. A single rocker switch allows operators to switch between the Case “H” operating pattern and ISO pattern controls. New industry-exclusive handles with additional “feel points” improve controllability and feathering.
The TR270 weighs 8,270 lbs and has a rated operating capacity of 2,700 lbs (2,800 lbs with optional counterweight). The radial-lift arm design is ideal for digging and pushing, and the machine’s hinge-pin height is ideal for loading and unloading trucks. A 19.5-gal fuel tank extends runtimes and ensures that the machine can work the entire day without refueling. All Case Alpha Series compact track loaders feature a dozer-style undercarriage, designed for stability on steep slopes and excellent performance in muddy and sandy terrain. The rigid track frame features fewer moving parts than suspension track systems, making it more durable and easier to maintain.
Case Alpha Series compact track loaders provide improved visibility, operator comfort, climate management and operator controls. The TR270 offers one of the widest cabs in the industry at nearly 3 ft, says Case, and comes with an optional enclosed cab that is fully sealed and pressurized against noise, dust and fumes. The company also notes that its cab-forward design, along with the industry’s lowest entry threshold, provides best-in-class visibility with excellent site lines down to the bucket edge, curb lines and the rear of the machine. Ultra-narrow wire side screens, side lighting and a skylight further improve visibility.
Easy access to the engine, filters and fill points simplifies maintenance on the Case TR270 Alpha Series models, with all critical components at the rear of the machine for quick access. The TR270 features Case’s easy-tilt cab for convenient entry to the drivetrain compartment. Hydraulic quick-couplers allow operators to quickly change attachments from the comfort of the cab, while Connect Under Pressure (CUP) manifolds require no tools to connect or disconnect hydraulic lines.
Advice to Buyers
“If you operate mostly on paved or other improved surfaces, a compact track loader is not for you,” explains Warren Anderson, brand marketing manager with Case Construction Equipment. “That may be the most important thing to understand — tracks will wear down on those surfaces and are more expensive to replace than tires. Beyond that, focus on rated operating capacity, horsepower, torque and hydraulic flow. Compact track loaders provide an excellent, stable platform for attachment use. Take advantage of that.”
