Bobcat has a rich history of manufacturing compact equipment — dating back more than 65 years when it first invented the skid steer. The company added mini track loaders to its portfolio in 2002, and today Bobcat offers two models: the MT100 and the new MT120. Launched in April 2025, the MT120 was designed and built to deliver increased operating capacity, lift height and breakout force — all while maintaining the compact size and maneuverability essential for working in confined spaces.

“The mini track loader industry is experiencing significant growth, driven by a combination of factors including labor shortages and increasing demand for machines that can operate in confined spaces,” says Katie Redenius, Bobcat’s senior product manager. “Bobcat developed the MT120 to serve a specific market segment, estimating over 80 percent of the mini track loader market consists of machines under 25 hp and under 36 in. wide — a space where the existing MT100 model was already successful.”

According to Redenius, the MT120 was developed as a clean-sheet design to compete directly with new market entrants offering features like pilot controls, faster travel speeds and improved flotation. She emphasizes that while the MT100 is a reliable, mechanical-control favorite, the MT120 expands Bobcat’s product line to meet customers’ evolving needs.

“The MT120 complements Bobcat’s lineup by offering a compact, high-performing mini track loader designed for operators who want advanced features without sacrificing serviceability,” says Redenius. “While the MT100 remains an affordable, no-electronics option prized for its tool-free hood access and easy maintenance, the MT120 raises the bar with increased lift performance and a 4.3-in. display, enabling password protection and service diagnostics.”

Key Features

Thanks to its best-in-class lift height, versatile attachment compatibility and narrow width, the MT120 is a great choice for a wide variety of customers — ranging from landscapers to contractors to rental stores. As mentioned, its narrow width makes the MT120 ideal for working in tight spaces while offering operators adequate power to tackle tough work with minimal ground disturbance.

“The MT120 mini track loader is Bobcat’s most powerful mini track loader with a rated operating capacity of 1,200 lbs and best-in-class lift height of 88 in., so operators can lift more weight, carry more material and accomplish more tasks,” says Redenius. “Powered by a 1.2-liter, non-diesel particulate filter engine, the MT120 delivers plenty of muscle, with robust breakout forces, a powerful, high-torque engine, optimum machine balance, fast travel speeds and a smooth pilot drive control — all working together to deliver fast cycle times for peak productivity.”

Operators can appreciate the MT120’s low ground pressure of 3.9 psi with optional 11-in. tracks or 4.3 psi with standard 9.1-in. tracks. Redenius says this allows for optimal flotation for greater performance on soft ground, as well as travel over established surfaces with minimal disturbance. The MT120 also boasts operator-focused elements that include smooth, precise controls and a ride-on platform that delivers premium comfort.

As for maintenance, Bobcat designed the MT120 with easier upkeep in mind. For example, Redenius notes features like the MT120’s non-DPF engine and a direct-drive system that eliminates belts, along with maintenance-free rollers and idlers and maintenance-free bushings that save customers time and money. She adds, “With durable construction, innovative design and numerous low- and no-maintenance features, the Bobcat MT120 offers proven performance and a low cost of ownership.”

Attachment Options

There are more than 20 compatible attachment categories available for the MT120, so the machine can handle a variety of tasks beyond lifting and carrying. So, whether you need to dig, clear brush, remove snow or install utilities, there’s an attachment for the MT120 — making it a go-to machine from a project’s start to finish.

“For landscapers, the MT120 pairs with attachments like the Brushcat rotary cutter for mulching and the log grapple for clearing brush,” explains Redenius. “In construction, operators can add the nitrogen breaker to break up concrete and asphalt or use the GPX light material bucket for efficient material handling. The MT120 is truly a multi-tool machine that helps you do more with less.”

Operators can swap attachments fast with Bobcat’s quick-change Bob-Tach mounting system and optional common industry interface (CII). These solutions offer operators even more flexibility and allow them to keep working without delay.

Redenius details popular attachments for the MT120:

  • Angle Broom – Clears snow and debris with heavy-duty bristles for clean, efficient passes.
  • Log Grapple – Strong and agile for moving timber and brush, with an integrated tree pusher and stabilizing grapple teeth.
  • Grapple – Ideal for lifting and carrying loose materials like branches, wood scraps and brush.
  • Stump Grinder – Front-mounted for great visibility, it turns stumps into mulch quickly and easily.
  • Brushcat Rotary Cutter – Cuts through thick brush on uneven terrain with a compact, maneuverable design.
  • Pallet Forks – Adjustable tines make it easy to lift and transport palletized or bulky materials like sod or plants.
  • Tiller – Breaks up tough soil and prepares land for planting with bi-directional cutting and double-edge tines.
