Vermeer Unveils the Verifier G3+ FLX Utility Locator

Vermeer recently introduced its Verifier G3+ FLX utility locator. The company said this new locator combines precise cable location capabilities with advanced fault-finding technology — delivering a comprehensive solution for utility professionals.
According to Vermeer, the Verifier G3+ FLX locator was mainly designed for power companies and utility professionals who need to identify and locate electrical faults with exceptional precision. The locator comes standard with a specialized A-frame accessory that measures the electrical current differential between its front leg (point A) and back leg (point B). This allows technicians to pinpoint the exact location of underground cable faults to within 2 to 3 in. of accuracy.
“When streetlights in a neighborhood unexpectedly fail, maintenance crews face the challenge of finding exactly where along the underground cable the problem exists,” said Aaron James, territory sales manager for Vermeer MV Solutions. “With the Verifier G3+ FLX locator, technicians can locate the exact fault point — eliminating the costly and time-consuming process of excavating entire cable runs.”
From the press release:
The new locator builds upon the foundation of the respected McLaughlin Vision FLX2, with substantial enhancements from the G3+ platform, including comprehensive GPS mapping functionality, remote control capability, current direction functionality and ambient noise detection.
What makes the Verifier G3+ FLX locator particularly valuable is its versatility. Beyond its specialized fault-finding capabilities, it delivers full functionality as a standard utility locator — creating a versatile two-in-one solution that eliminates the need for multiple devices in the field.
Here are some other features of the Verifier G3+ FLX mentioned by Vermeer:
- Includes a transmitter with specialized frequencies optimized for fault finding applications and higher wattage output compared to the current G3+ model.
- Pairs with smartphones using the G3+ Map mobile app to plot location information, including depth, current index, GPS data, utility type, device name and operator information.
- Comes with comprehensive 3-year coverage that includes water damage protection.
