Ritchie Bros. Montreal, Fort Worth Auctions Break Records
A pair of successful public equipment auctions Sept. 24 and 25 broke records for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers and generated more than $76 million in equipment sold.
Thousands of registered bidders from 67 countries participated in the Montreal, Quebec and Fort Worth, Texas auctions. The auctions, held simultaneously, attracted more than 5,000 bidders in Montreal and generated more than $36 million and almost 3,300 bidders in Texas generated more than $40 million.
Ritchie Bros. broke Montreal auction site records for largest number of sellers (more than 750) and largest amount of equipment sold (almost 4,200).
“The results of this week’s auction are very encouraging in all industry sectors,” said Jessy Cantin, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. “The focus for equipment buyers in Montreal during September is preparation for the winter, so we saw particularly strong results in snow removal gear and heavy construction equipment.”
Equipment in the auction included a selection of wheel loaders, motor graders, crawler snow blowers and utility tractors for Dorval, QC-based Roxboro Excavation. Roxboro offers a variety of services in civil engineering, environment, paving, earthmoving, infrastructure, sewage, as well as snow removal in the Quebec region.
“We were very pleased with the results on the sale of our equipment this week,” said Daniel Theoret, director of equipment, Roxboro Excavation Inc. “I believe that Ritchie Bros. brings in more value for my equipment by providing potential buyers with the opportunity to inspect equipment at their yards in advance of the auction.”
In less than two months, Ritchie Bros. has held two unreserved equipment auctions at its permanent auction site in Fort Worth. The latest auction featured more than 3,000 heavy equipment items, including a selection of oilfield, construction and transportation equipment.
“This week’s auction in Texas saw strong pricing across all categories, particularly for specialized transportation equipment,” said Adam Kawulok, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. “Utility trucks were predominantly on high demand on day two of the auction along with bucket trucks and boom trucks.”
The Ritchie Bros. auction calendar currently features more than 95 unreserved public auctions around the world, including the Company’s next unreserved public auctions in Montreal, Quebec and in Fort Worth, Texas, both scheduled for December 3-4, 2014.
