John Deere Power Products Celebrates 30-Year Anniversary
Anniversary honoring the milestone recognizes achievements and long-time employees
The John Deere Power Products facility, located in Greeneville, Tenn. will celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer. From humble beginnings, this once small satellite factory has become the highest volume facility in the John Deere enterprise.
The Greeneville facility is the manufacturing home for the 100 Series lawn tractor and residential ZTrak zero-turn mowers found at local John Deere dealerships as well as major home improvement retailers. Since 1988, Power Products has taken pride in its many recognitions, from safety awards to manufacturing excellence. The factory has been honored with many accolades, proving that its team-oriented culture makes a big impact on its success. Moreover, a total of 14 employees have been at Power Products from the very beginning.
“Since 1988, John Deere Power Products has been driven to produce top-quality lawn care equipment with a high level of employee engagement,” said Jeff Hollett, factory manager. “Our commitment to these two goals have played a critical role in reaching our 30-year anniversary.”
Power Products’ employee recognition initiatives and team structures are part of what keeps the team motivated, as well as the activity in support of the Greeneville community. Greeneville employees volunteer at daycare centers, participate in the Backpack Program for city schools that provides food to 1,500 at-risk children each month, participate in landscaping and lawn care projects, and donate to the annual food drive.
“It has been good to be part of something that started 30 years ago,” said Tony Moyers, team leader in manufacturing. “It took a lot of hard work back then from many people to get our reputation for quality and delivery. I don’t think we realized at the time, but that was what we were creating — a foundation to grow on.”
To celebrate the anniversary, Power Products is hosting a social gathering complete with live music, catered food and fun and games on August 3. Long-time employees will be honored and all will be celebrated in honor of this manufacturing milestone.
