Hertz Equipment Rental Names New COO, CIO

Bruce Dressel and Richard Marani joined Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. as the company’s chief operating officer and chief information officer respectively.

Dressel and Marani will report to Larry Silber, Hertz Equipment Rental’s president and CEO and are key additions as the company prepares to separate from Hertz as a stand-alone company.

He’s a catalyst for growth, and I am confident that his experience and leadership, together with our existing team, will help us realize our growth strategy as well as drive financial performance.”

As COO of Hertz Equipment Rental Corp, Dressel will focus on leading the sales and operations teams and driving growth in North America. He brings with him deep experience in the equipment rental industry and has more than 30 years in leadership and senior management roles. As president and CEO of Sunbelt Rentals, he grew the company from 24 to 195 locations during his tenure there. Following Sunbelt, Dressel was chief sales officer for ADS, a provider of industry-leading equipment and logistics support solutions to the Department of Defense and federal agencies. Since 2013, Dressel has been consulting within the equipment rental industry.

Marani has more than 30 years of IT experience across industrial products, construction equipment, aerospace, and information technology businesses. As Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. CIO,Marani will ensure that the company has the proper technologies and systems in place to support the planned separation and future growth.

Marani began his career at General Electric, transitioning into IT and going on to become an information technology leader. Following a successful role at United Technologies, Marani joined Ingersoll Rand Corp. in 2002 as vice president of IT, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of global IT strategies. While there, he built out IT systems in advance of the spin-off of the Construction Equipment division to Doosan Infracore, leaving with the spin to assume the IT leadership role at Doosan. After four years there, he returned to Ingersoll in a senior IT leadership role, responsible for global IT strategy for a $3 billion sector of the Ingersoll portfolio.
