Carolina Cat does the awesomest Elf on the Shelf (photo blog)
We all have Christmas traditions that we cherish. Traditions bring back special memories and help create new memories. This is the second year of an Elf on the Shelf Christmas tradition at Carolina Cat, the Caterpillar Dealer in Western North Carolina. For those of you that are not familiar with Elf on the Shelf, it is a Christmas toy that comes with an elf and a storybook. Families work with the kids to come up with a name for the elf, then they read the story of the elf, and each night the elf reports back to Santa whether the kids were naughty or nice. The next morning the kids find the elf in all sorts of funny situations.
Elfie is the name of Carolina Cat’s elf and the special thing about him is that he LOVES Caterpillar equipment. For the 25 Days of Christmas, Elfie can be found getting into mischief involving a variety of Cat equipment. The tradition starts with a letter to Santa from Elfie and then the fun begins. So far Elfie was caught putting a Bobcat toy underneath a roller and climbing the tracks of a dozer and calling it the “Stairway to Heaven.”
The unique part of this Christmas tradition is that it creates a high level of anticipation for what Elfie will do next and what type of Cat equipment will be featured. Compact equipment is not usually thought of as a fun and trendy industry, but the Elfie tradition has proved to be a playful way to get people interested in equipment. Carolina Cat reported that employees, other dealers, and people all over the country get excited about each Elfie picture. They also have a page on the Carolina Cat website dedicated to Elfie and you can even submit your own idea.
