Asta’s new mobile app makes real-time, on-site project updates a snap

SPM Iphone 2Asta Development, maker of the leading construction scheduling software Asta Powerproject, announced the U.S. release of its companion mobile application, Site Progress Mobile. Site Progress Mobile is a new mobile app and cloud storage solution that delivers easy, flexible progress reporting on-site and on the move for Asta Powerproject users. The Site Progress Mobile app is available in Android, Windows Phone and iOS versions for a low monthly fee. Files are stored on a highly secure cloud server, which gives the ability to access and update Asta Powerproject project files anytime, anywhere. This access provides powerful cost, efficiency and project management benefits.

“A schedule is only as good as it is current,” said Jason Ruddle, Managing Director of Asta Development. “Construction executives who rely on good data to make strategic decisions will love the immediacy of this app as their teams from various jobs keep schedules current, allowing construction delays and other issues to be dealt with quickly.”

The release of Site Progress Mobile in the United States follows development based on customer feedback and months of beta testing in the Europe. With the new app, active users can log in to their Asta Powerproject projects to record progress and add notes and images from their device’s camera or image roll. The task view can be customized so that the user sees only the tasks that are relevant to them or those which are active and relevant at the current time.

If no mobile 3G or Wi-Fi coverage is available on site, Site Progress Mobile detects that it is working offline and automatically saves progress updates, images and notes on the mobile device until the signal is restored. Then, data is automatically synchronized back into the updated project plan.

Additional benefits to the construction firm include:

  • • Increased data accuracy — Real-time recording reduces reporting time and avoids the inefficiencies and inaccuracies inherent in rekeying notes made on site into an office-based system. It can also significantly speed up the production of accurate, up-to-date project progress reports.
  • • Reduced IT Expenses — No IT support or on-site servers are needed to securely store progress files. Site Progress Mobile uses highly secure cloud storage and can be easily installed by project managers on their own Android, Windows Phone or iOS devices without compromising company IT security.
  • • User Customization — Users can specify exactly what project information they need to access – whether the whole project or just tasks — and schedule that data to automatically download from the cloud.
  • • Reduce Risk — Site Progress Mobile enables recording of real progress dates and timelines, not simply percentage completion. This adds extra depth to project records and can not only inform and enable better future planning, but also provide vital evidence in the case of future contractual disputes or litigation.
  • • Add Visual Documentation — Site Progress Mobile enables users to take progress photographs and associate those with particular tasks or build stages.

Site Progress Mobile is available now through Asta Development’s U.S. distributors.
